Upon reading the article again, it kinda just sounds like speculation from the author, and not much meat behind it. At least that's my impression. But I can still dream...
I'll take another look at it, but I read that the speculation was more about Kyle Shanahan going to the Bears than Bezos buying the team.

I think at least two people have a right of first refusal if the Mc Caskeys sell, including Pat Ryan and his family.
Andrew McKenna is the other.

Anyone should feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but in another thread I mentioned how the McCaskey owned shares are divided up among the entire (including extended) family. I *think* I've read/heard that if second cousin Orville McCaskey wants to sell his shares he first has to get approval from Virginia, and she does not allow that to happen.

Virginia really runs the show. George is just the lap dog.

My read on things - based on what I believe I've heard in that post you quoted - is that Virginia's only real involvement is to keep everything in the family. The other part to her having the final say on if family can sell shares is that many of those family members, George, Michael, and Bryan included, want to sell once she croaks.

How soon do they sell after she dies? 10 minutes? Couple days? A week?

There has to be a betting line on that somewhere.

Yeah this is about as reliable is the rumors that are always floating around about Jordan, Jared Payton and Oprah (or some other iteration of high profile Chicago personalities) putting together group to buy the Bears.

Just click bait...

I say we all throw in 10 bucks and buy the bears

That's no longer allowed is it? I thought Packers were the only ones who could have that while it lasts.

If all the fans who get season tickets would stop buying tickets and put that money in an offer bin the McCaskeys would eventually have to sell.

She’s immortal. Only can die if they have a coach that refuses to listen to her and a QB that doesn’t suck

Bezos and Shanahan? My god would that be a dream.

Anybody know the details of what happen when Virginia dies? Isn't there some stipulation where she loses enough voting shares from her grandchildren that makes it difficult to keep the team in the family?

Maybe have those killer $1.50 hot dog and drink deals? Oh wait, that's Costco. At a stadium, that'll be $20.
Yeah but it’ll be dropped from a drone! Mustard and all!

Believe MCCaskey family has 80%. Virginia has 20% on her own but the trust that owns the other 60% is controlled by her and she votes those shares.

If McCaskey's were smart they would sell like a 60% stake so they can monetize a large portion of their interest and keep 20% so the family still has annual profits from the Bears while someone with better management skills can own and run the Bears.
