can someone explain the gibson giveaway for lindholm part of this trade, because i know the avs got the better of the saad for zamarov part of this trade
I think the Avs wanted some size back to make it work, as the Hawks got 2,000,000 the better of salary while swapping positions of need.

I don't think the AHL swap matters much.

Pious Suter is going to change things.

I went monkey over Kubalik, and the reason I am even more monkey here...is because its a left handed power forward.
Suter>Nylander...but also is a shoe-in for trials at the lottery spot across from 88. His communication with Kubi might make other combos tempting early.

but as the season goes on they will find their natural hockey homes

Shaw/Cat-Toews-Kubalik
Suter-Strome/Dach-Kane
Cat/Shaw-Dach/Strome-
Carp-Kampf-

I think where we got in trouble, was having the depth variety to solve those last two equations.

Nylander
Barrett
Hagel
Tiply
Highmore
Pirri
Morrison

Should all be given consideration at those final 2 spots. Jewels was a penalty machine so we can't have both him and Shaw.

I'll be shocked if Suter isn't on the left wing in the top 6, or 12...for sure. Because he is sturdy and his floor is as your 4th line left winger...I don't see any chance he doesn't earn at least 4LW because he is a poacher would look great in

Suter-Toews-Kuba

or
Suter-Carp-Kampf

if for some reason he isn't a strong enough finisher in top 6.

Suter is the 2LW of our dreams (Breadman or Ovechkin aside).

Avs/Rangers are going to be incredible dynasties to be chasing.
Kings will be back in 3-4 more years.
yes the Kings are going in the right direction, but calling out the Avs and Rangers chasing dynasties, easy buddy, the west is ultra competitive, Colorado has all the right pieces but zero to show so far, the Rangers will always be the Rangers and find a way to fuk things up.

I have Zadorov on my NhL 20 squad paired with Boqvits for a plus 5 in chemistry, so there is that.

I do like the trade. Zadorov gives us a hammer on the back end. I’ll miss Saad but at 6m he was luxury we couldn’t afford. Still interested to see what Stan does. Still think like others here there are more trades coming down the pipe, or maybe a surprise FA signing at the forward position.
Maybe he is thinking of bring in Laine?

I noticed you put Suterr>Nylander wow really, my 6 year is an upgrade over Nylander it doesn’t say much.

I think the big thing here that is being missed is Saad was the reason it was ok to get rid breadman because at 6 mil he was controlled and his contract was supposed to be the pill to swallow getting rid of him. Now not only did we take the short term hit in production. We have to replace him and his contract and essentially Stan has to now re-acknowledge what a cluster **** that trade has become. We essentially got nothing for trading panarin early because he was afraid to pay him.

...so let me get this straight:

We have a logjam of middle-paring 3-5M defeseman blocking the rookies from making the lineup. We get rid of Maata, then trade Saad to get another mid-pairing defenseman who can't stay out of the box...and retain salary.

Unless there's another move sending Murph, DeHaan, or Seabrook out, this move is nowhere close to good. We still have no room to see what guys like Beaudin and Mitchell have.
