All I know is that Luc Longley playing on three championship teams is clearly the same as Luol Deng not winning championships with this current team.

Don't ask me. The ring debate is a hindsight argument.

Right, but as we all know, it was Luc Longley that really brought everything home.

Right, but as we all know, it is Luol Deng who is responsible for not bringing anything home. If ONLY we had three time NBA champion Luc Longley on the roster God only knows how many titles we could bring home...

Luol Deng is a GOOD player but he might be the most overrated Chicago Bull of all time. They overpaid him the last time they resigned him, just like they over paid Taj instead of keeping an athletic 7 footer like Omer Asik. There is zero reason to extend Luol before the end of the season and if some team wants to overpay him thats fine. This team needs to wipe their books clean and start fresh because they have made some really bad decisions on how to spend their money thus far.

1. Make a damn trade to get a real stretch 4 like Lamarcus Aldridge who they foolishly traded the first time around
2. Resign Deng for a reasonable amount or send him on his way
3. Amnesty Carlos Boozer and use the money to bring in another scorer and replace whoever you gave up in the trade for Aldridge.

Done.

Except #3. I don't think they'll do that

Did someone just say that Luol Deng might be the most overrated Bull of all time? This coming from the same fanbase that worships the ground that Nate Robinson walks on?

I've friggin heard it all...

Heard it all?
Come on man, Luol is solid across the board but honestly he is NOT a shutdown defender, he is NOT a great perimiter shooter, he is NOT a good ball handler, he is NOT a great rebounder, he is NOT a great shot blocker, he is NOT a great scorer....ETC
Yes he can do all those those things, but he is not GREAT at any of them.

He is just good at many things but great at nothing unless you call playing alot of minutes without fouling out a sign of greatness. That doesn't mean he's not important to the team or isn't one of the better players, it just means he isn't irreplaceable. I really like Luol and he has great character but I can think of a million players that are better at one of the above listed skills who would fill a team need. I think Nate Robinson's scoring and ball handling are actual elite skills that very few players in the NBA have. The Bulls are idiots to not keep him for the end of games when you could have put the ball in either Nate or Derricks hands.

There's truth in what you say, but a player who is good (but not great) at everything is clearly FAR more highly-valued than a player who may be elite (or at least exceptional) at one thing and we need look no further for evidence than the Deng-Nate comparison. Even if you think Deng is overpaid, there's no question that his market value is at least $10mil/yr. Meanwhile, Robinson was fortunate to get $800,000 above the vet minimum. And Nate's better off than some other guys who may be world-class ball-handlers or shooters, but because of the weaknesses in their games can't even get into the NBA.

There's a reason that virtually all of the men who make a good living coaching basketball absolutely love Deng's game...even if most of us fans can't see it.

Luol over-rated? Not sure if serious. 90% of Bulls fans have been wanting to see him traded for the majority of his Bull career.

What's next? Someone claims that the majority of the Bulls fanbase don't want to see Boozer amnestied?

I like Deng but don't want to overpay him. Let someone else deal with a jack of all trades master of none that is usually injured in the post season.

WHOA I'm not saying Nate Robinson is better than Deng, I'm saying his skills are harder to replace than Luol's skills. At the end of the day Nate is a bench player because he is severly undersized and is more of a one on player but he is a great scorer and the Bulls need someone other than Rose who can take the ball coast to coast and score against anyone like Nate can.

You don't tie up all your money in Luol, Noah, and Taj because none of them are premium skill players, the Bulls should have made better decisions about who to pay and who to TRADE which they seem inept at doing. As for what the "men who make a living coaching"... Coaches always like smart players that play hard and do whatever the coach tells them, but those guys aren't the stars that score all the points to win the games and get to sleep with the cheerleaders.

Welp, Pax is managing to alienate Thibbs to the point Tom dont want to re-up with the Bulls.
And dont anyone try and think Phil Jackson would come back to Chicago to replace him.
Wipe that off yall minds.
LoL........
Makes me wonder how Rose feels, maybe he wants to walk too.
Maybe this is why Rose wont recruit.
Derrick isnt going to recruit a guy to a team hes going to leave.
Maybe Rose is being recruited.

And lets just say that both Thibbs and Rose leaves to Bulls.
In this scenerio, id bet Paxson still wouldnt get fired.

I'm curious to know who do you think the Bulls could trade for Aldridge. Unless, they do a sign and trade with Deng to Portland, I don't see any scenario where we could pull off that kind of heist off. Maybe i'm wrong. Also, if we trade for Aldridge/keep and resign Deng, the most we'll have is the MLE to sign a player. So, we're going to find a scorer for that much? It's not impossible, Nate did just sign for what about 3 mil? I just think you're stretching with your points.

Any combination of three: Taj, Deng, Butler the rights to Charlottes 1st rounder, or the rights to Mirotich from overseas. I think Taj+Deng+Mirotich gets it done. I would even sweeten the deal with the Bulls 1st rounder (late) and hold on to the Bobcat pick... Really all the Bulls need to win is Rose, Butler, Aldridge, Noah and Boozer and they have a much better chance of winning the East this year. What's the point of holding on to draft picks when they are one player away from winning this year.

Thibs and Rose will take their talents to Southern California to join up with Kevin Love and Kevin Durant

that pic that leaked of them (in lakers practice gym) was a sign ahead of time

agree with this 100%

Paxson cant seem to find a good trade unless its with Isiah Thomas
