for me, it would have to be any one of the 6 movies my parents owned and played on repeat (because they owned them) on laserDisc repeat while I was 1-4: Das Boot, Deerhunter, Ordinary People, 2001, Electric Horseman, or Papillon. Needless to say, any and/or all of those movies shaped my outlook on life.

Happy Days season 1 is so different than the rest of the show, would be interesting to experience that show from the beginning with no knowledge of anything that happens and all the cliches that came later. Actually, I would rather watch that show in the same direction as the first season.

Another good thread would be shows/franchises that took the wrong path, once a major fork in the road presented itself.

I'll be honest, I don't understand the Sitcom or stuff like Simpsons/Family Guy as something you would pick above everything else to rewatch for the first time.

These are procedural shows where each episode is typically built on a template, is there a ton of surprise value in rewatching shows like these for the first time?

If anything rewatching stuff like that with hindsight is funnier.... much of the Futurama humor gets funnier the 2nd or 3rd time I watch it.

I don't see the value myself.

I think it is because The Simpsons is the only television show I have watched often enough to need a fresh start. I missed the boat on a lot of these Prestige TV shows and the few I have watched...I could rewatch and pick up on all of those little things I missed like you sited in this post.

Right now...I am playing catch-up with a lot of you. Just about to start Season 3 of The Sopranos for the very first time.
