How do you guys think the Bulls handle a lineup with Bron guarding Rose, Wade guarding Rip and Battier guarding Deng? Do you think that Rose can take Bron 1 on 1 at full health?

Absolutely. The notion that lebron james shut down derrick rose by himself is a myth. It was a team effort.

It why I maintain that thibs got outcoached. You see how they played the pick and rolls, they weren't even worried about the screener. They would just trap rose and thus forced other players like noah and boozer to have to make decisions or rose ended up having to take a bad shot.

And for the life of me I can't understand why he didn't post boozer more on bosh. Bosh can't handle boozer in the post. And head to head boozer has the edge over bosh.

Couldn't agree more. I honestly dont see any weaknesses on our team anymore. And when you think about teams trying to switch to stop rose, there. are going to be mismatches sonewhere on the court and I'm not going to sit here and say Miami can guard our Stars AND our pretty good role players at the same time. But...its why they play the games so we'll see.

I think the Bulls got close and had a good chance last year. Having a real SG will definitely help. Rose won't have to do it all and it'll make the offense less predictable.

It was a team effort, but Rose shot only 6.3% from the floor when LeBron was guarding him. Not only did LeBron take over in the 4th quarter on the offensive end, but he also gave Rose all sorts of problems whenever he guarded him. It's clear that the way to stop DRose is to put a lengthy defender on him, which is what Vogel did in the first round. Once the 6'8" George was guarding him, Rose shot only 18-57 from the floor.

Rose doesn't really have much of a chance 1-on-1 against LeBron, even when completely healthy. However, very few players in the league do.

The beauty of adding Rip though is that he's a good enough passer that Rose can give it to him and he can make a good play. Length can give Rose problems, obviously, but I think Thibs will be wiser this time around and will find a counter strategy of some sort. Screen and roll with Rip maybe so that could open up a switch so that Wade is guarding Rose instead? And we know Rip can hit the open jumper, so they can't trap. I guess we'll find out when the time comes...

If we meet the Heat again in the playoffs, Thibbs should send Scallabrini out on the floor to trip Lebron james and break his ankle...that way he will be out of the game.
Problem solved.

i think rip is going to be very instrumental for this team because he can score with the ball in his hands...and he's a good 3 point shooter

you need a guy who can complement korver and basically give the bulls an outside threat..it adds another dimension offensively...which causes defensive adjustment...with 3 point shooting...teams cant pack it in or use zone..they have to spread out to honor the outside or they get burned...so the inside is opened up for rose to create and the big guys to go to work..

rip being able to take the ball himself and score is important too..when the team basically feeds off rose...no one else really makes their own shot..and when the defense is tight and the offense is stagnant you need a guy who can score more than just through systematic plays....you need a guy(or guys) who can break down the defense

if i were the bulls...i would start brewer(atleast for now) for defensive intensity...brewer is one of the best perimeter defenders in the nba and he helps the bulls set a tone early...clamp them down defensively and kill their momentum...then you bring in rip to help your offense..you play rip more..but use brewer as a defensive specialist

Lebron & Wade doubled Rose during many stretches of those games. If you want to say it was a team effort, fine, but the 2 best players on the team (& 2 of the best perimeter defenders in the league) were the guys tasked with stopping him, and they did.

I wouldn't say Thibs was outcoached other than his insistence on keeping Korver on the floor during the 4th quarter. However, considering he was our best spot up shooter & we were in desperate need of any kind of secondary option, I can understand the reasoning behind it. Lebron using the pick-n-roll with Korver's man is what allowed him to go on those scoring tears in the 4th & win several games for them.

As for Boozer, he was playing on 1 leg, with zero lift at all. I'm still amazed he put up 2 20-10 games in that series.

This team has a legitimate chance at the finals even before Rip. Will they? I wouldnt be confident in saying yes. But at full health i would never count this team out. Rose noah and boozer we all beat up in the playoffs and we ended up losing Asik in what, game 3 or 4?

Rose, Noah, Taj and Asik are still developing as players and who knows what Butler might give you down the road. I wouldnt count this team out of the finals. One injury in the East can change everything.

I think he's going to make a considerable impact. Seeing as how the Bulls were 27-3 last season in games where Bogans scored 6 points or more in, Rip's 14-20 every night makes me excited. Opposing 2 guards are going to HATE running off screens all night. Rip's a greyhound with his stamina and his constant movement on offense opens up the possibilities for this team.

I agree, he's already made a huge impact on the wear and tear of the bench.

He's also made a huge impact on Brewers career by letting him showcase who should be starting the rest of the season.

At this point, I don't know if Rip can even make it to the Finals, let alone play in them.

And that's more than enough justification by itself for a JRSwish signing in March or sooner if possible.
Don't get me wrong, I love Rip, but his career will soon R.I.P ....Might not make it through his contract..
This is and has been a very logical realistic concern of mine since we first signed him...But maybe, just maybe by the grace and power of the good Lord above, purhaps Rip's frail old worn out high milage can manage not to break down again the remainder of this season...Its likely he won't get much playing time until the playoffs....it appears that's what Thibbs wants to save him for.....could be a dead end street....
