Honestly one of the nicest guys I ever met. I'll never forget it, sitting in Midway at like 6 in the morning, barely anyone in the place when all of a sudden, this dude in all black rolls up -- black shirt, black coat, black pants, black cowboy-boots, slicked black hair. I think, is that fucking Tony Esposito? He inches closer, looking for his gate, when I notice his belt buckle: a giant, silver-encrusted Blackhawks logo the only color shimmering from all the black. I got to talk to the legend for about 10 to 15 minutes about everything, from Bowman, to whether Chelios would take his place (a big rumor at the time), to Bobby Hull still being a party animal, etc.
At one point in the conversation, I felt like I was overstaying my welcome, so I tried to leave and he said, "hey, where you going?" And we ended up talking for 10 more minutes. That's how nice the guy was -- giving his time to a stranger/fan he had never met before. I'll always remember that about him and be grateful for that moment.
