My 2nd RIP thread of the week. Hopefully Grimson doesn't come tell me Vin was mean to him once.
Reading some of what will undoubtedly be hundreds of tributes to Scully.
At Fordham he called football games for a team that had a young assistant named Vince Lombardi. He played baseball in college against George H W Bush.
He once called a 10 inning NBC Game of the Week in St. Louis before flying to Houston to call a Dodgers game that went 22 innings.
My own recent memory was when the Cubs had Matt Szczur. I would listen to opponents' broadcasts on MLB app and would always hear some announcer say "Hail Caesar!" But when it was Vin, and Szczur doubled in a run, Vin causally dropped a biblical quote: "Render unto Caesar all that belongs to Caesar." So perfect. So Vin Scully.
Undoubtedly one of the iconic voices in sports history. RIP, Vin.
