I wouldn’t mind another year of Aaron Rodgers. Although he smoked the bears like he smokes ayahuasca, he’s practically the last great QB of the 2000s (I guess Stafford counts too). I’d love to see him go have a little success in LV or Pit. The best scenario is Rodgers going somewhere and winning another Super Bowl (as long as we are already eliminated) as the Packers fade to mediocrity.

A new report suggests quarterback Aaron Rodgers had a surprisingly strong reaction to the New York Jets’ decision to move on from him after two seasons.

Rodgers “aggressively urged” the Jets to give him one more season as their quarterback during meetings with the team last week, according to Steve Helling and Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post. The veteran quarterback was concerned that his career “could end with a whimper” if the Jets did not bring him back.

Ultimately, the Jets were reportedly unmoved by Rodgers’ pleas, and went through with their plans to move on from him ahead of the 2025 campaign. The quarterback ultimately accepted the decision “like a man going to the gallows.”

This suggests, rather surprisingly, that Rodgers is not necessarily optimistic about finding a new landing spot for 2025 if he does want to play another season. A number of teams need a quarterback and could be in the market for him, though there does appear to be some resistance to him in certain spots.

The Jets ultimately decided to move on from Rodgers after two unsuccessful seasons. Tellingly, fans were not unhappy with the move, and even mocked the Jets for effusively thanking Rodgers for his contributions.

The 41-year-old quarterback went 5-12 in New York this season. He threw for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns with 11 interceptions in his 17 starts. He has yet to publicly decide if he intends to play next season or whether he might opt to retire instead.
