I guess it is obvious I have no use for HOA's. If your roof leaks they should just come fix it. Period. That's why you give them money every month.

Not every HOA is responsible for roof repair. I know of same that are responsible for landscaping only, and set rules for fencing, roof color/material, etc.. Homeowners/ Landlords hiring the contractors and footing the bill.

Most of the HOA's for condos and apartments are responsible for the roofs . If the leak is over the neighbors roof and it is leaking into your unit it is gonna be real hard getting them to fix the leak when it isn't affecting them.

Yes....HOA's that cover single homes you are on your own. I paid 1500 a year for 20 years and all I ever saw of the HOA was a warning I wasn't watering my yard enough in the middle of a drought and the city was fining folks for watering on the wrong days.
