Rose is Bulls #1 asset but versatility a close second.

I mean, yeah, the Bulls have a lot of players that are versatile. But that's been the case, and it can only take you so far. I'd say our team defense is more valuable to us than our versatility. Hell, even that can take us so far.

Definatly not a championship team yet.....I dont even think the Bulls are that verstile.
We have a pretty versatile defensive team, but we most definatly will struggle offensively during long stretches of games like every year.

Bottom line is the Bulls DO NEED another alphadog type player to compliment Rose, at least offensively.
People can deny this fact all they want. Just the hard truth....The bulls a a GOOD team.....but not on the level of Miami....
Getting out of the East will require knocking out the Heat......I dont see any team in the East doing that come playoff time this year.

And there is not a human being in basketball thats gonna stop King James.

Ill bet i know where the ring ceremony will take place at the begining of the 2014-15 season.

I hear ya. I've always said, anyone but Rose is available if it means a true 1a. Management holds on to their assets for to long. If you can get a star in return for Butler and the picks, pull the trigger. Man, must of Chicago is putting Butler in the hof , I'm not on that band wagon. And i agree about the heat.

I think Bulls may be one of the most versatile teams in the league. Thought? http://www.chicitysports.com/2013/10/14/derrick-rose-is-bulls-1-asset-versitility-is-a-close-second/

Man, I agree. I predict a similar thing as last year. Last year, the Bulls didn't do much to retain their players and brought in some questionable guys only to see that the bench was still pretty good. This year, the Bulls, imo, have assembled a real nice group in the background.

It doesn't seem like the Bulls did much, again, in the off season. But what they did do, imo, they did with a lot of purpose! With DRose coming back, it was all about spreading the floor. Secondly, it was all about versatility. We've got defensive specialists at every position. Half the team can play multiple positions well.

The Bulls may need a second 'star' to be an annual favorite to win it all, but they are good enough now, imo. As much as some fans clamor for other players, the Heart that the team showed me last year was undeniable! I would go to war with these guys!!!

I think people also underestimate the maturing of the Bulls. Thibbs is obviously one of the best coaches in the NBA. Rose is still figuring out how to be a star, I mean he's not even in his prime yet. Taj is gaining 20lbs of muscle. Jimmy's looks to be very 'MJ' like, imo, defensively. If Jimmy can score too.....watch out!

Teague could be huge if he develops like Jimmy did. MDunn, imo, will be our 6th man of the year. People will look back on him, imo, and say wow.... nice pickup for Garpax. Deng can rest cuz of this. Kirk can now be a major force coming off the bench! And imo, Snell and Murphy look very promising so far.

If we can roll into the playoffs with our full crew and healthy, I don't care who we play! The Bulls are going to treat the Heat like the Pistons when they finally overcame them, and I think it's this year!

Eh...we're not a championship team because of the fact that the Heat exist. They have set the bar so ridiculously high by having those 3 big time guys who could all be that 1a guy on other teams that everyone else in comparison is only "okay." Many complaints that people have about this team you could say for 28 other teams in the league. Take the Heat out of the equation and I think the Bulls can take any team in the league in a 7 game series, even with their offensive streakiness. You look at a team like the Clippers, who are arguably the favorite out West, and do you put them over Miami? No. You might not even put them over us. It's not just us that's lacking...it's the entire league.

If you can't get that other superstar you have to try something else. The Bulls, like the Heat, are one of the few teams that actually put the emphasis on defense and get the job done. Offensively they move the ball most of the time but last year they showed they understand to go to the hot hand whoever it is. There were games when Boozer couldn't miss, there were some when Nate was on fire, some where Noah just found the basket. If they stay with that idea and Derrick steps back when somebody else gets really hot they can be better offensively. With Hinrich backing up Rose and playing next to him Derrick doesn't have to be the playmaker on every possession. He can play off the ball and get lost or take PGs who aren't as strong into the paint while Kirk handles the ball. Noah being such a good passer on the high post and the thread of him driving creates open shots for others.

Well said! Thanks for the read.

Nah, versatility means depth in my book. The Bulls have one scorer and rank near the bottom of the league in points per game. Not a big deal in the regular season with their defense, but as we've seen in the playoffs, the Bulls can't buy a basket when they need one against MY-AM-ME.

I don't care how good your team defense is, you're not shutting down Lebron, Wade and Bosh. So you have to be able to score points consistently from more than one source against them.

How about we actually have our best players on the court when we play them next. Both MY-AM-ME's rings were with DRose on the bench. Last year Deng and Kirk were out as well.

I'm stealing this from somebody, but the Bulls are putting in a newer-ish offense. A couple of the plays in here look familiar (Korver ran that double screen loop a lot), but if you look at this video* you'll see DRose off the ball a lot more.

* Yes, I realize you're not seeing a lot of good finishes in this video. However, it is preseason.

Yeah, and the guy commentating said as much as well. A couple of spacing issues in the first bit of that. If you made it all the way to the end, the 'UCLA' cut he was talking about was a great play. I know he discussed them running that last year, but I never remember seeing them doing a lot of triangle.

Really?! What kinda book you reading? In the dictionary the two have completely different meanings. Try that book out!

Uh-huh... and what does this have to do with the lack of scoring? Name me the last championship team that ranked near rock bottom in points scored per game (with everyone in the lineup)... This has been a problem for several years now and GARPAX has no answer for it.
