I think the MLB is pretty hypocritical to be honest. The reds have had him throw out a first pitch which i mean is essentially an attraction to their game. Fox used him during the world series. And while you could argue that the MLB isn't running either of those two organizations, it's still the baseball product in general making money off him while chastising him. I don't feel like you can have it both ways. And I'm sure if the MLB had said something to either fox or the reds they could have put a squash on the whole thing.

Just strikes me as ridiculous voters have the choice to vote on steroid era players but not rose. If the voters want to keep rose out of the hall of fame then fine. That's their choice just like it's the choice to keep out the steroid users. But the double standard that gets applied to this is stupid.

Fans have no influence on the game? I bet Tim Donaghy has a different saying.

Did you just compare a ref to a fan? Are you having an awful day with your thought process? Refs and fans being the same. You are so funny.

Also, yes, it is extremely hypocritical. They bring him back to make money off of him and shove gambling down are throats by how many commercials? Then, in turn, don't want to reinstate him because he still gambles on baseball. Where do you not see the hypocrisy?
Tha fans have no harm to the game. Pete did. That's why he is banned. If the game of baseball becomes like the WWE, the product is toast. Pete could have put baseball in that position. The fans do not. Night and Day.

There is no hypocrisy. Pete has been banned for MLB employment. The appearances are unrelated to baseball operations. Pete benefits as does MLB when he makes an appearance, but that's all it is. It's not baseball operations related. Pete also can refuse to attend, but it helps him out too.

Well the #1 rule is don't gamble and has been around from all indications in the entire modern era at least. Drugs have only been collectively bargained recently with approved counteractions. That means it's not a double standard.

So, baseball can make money off Pete. That's fine. Pete makes money gambling or tries and that's why he can't be reinstated. Yea, no hypocrisy there. Just like when they brought him back for the all star game. It's hysterical for people to say MLB has not been hypocritical through the whole process

Really? Do you think he was in business for himself or for other people? The other people being fans who changed the outcome of the games by making him produce a gambling scheme with them. Fans betting on basketball made the scandal happen.

try again...I don't think it was the fans that paid him off. that would have been a mafia or some sort of illegal organization that paid him off to change the outcome of the game

Yes, because the mafia was booking for the fans. Fans don't gamble. They don't fix games. Simple.

They can keep Rose from being hired for any MLB job
But no reason to still keep him from being eligible for the HOF

Anyone know if someone tried to get Joe Jackson reinstated for HOF eligibility?

There have been groups trying to get Jackson into the HOF for 70 years. Where you been?
