Rosy stepped it up the series against the Wild, so his loss will be felt, even though he was a 5-6.
I think fans are spoiled that the Hawks have 2,7 and 4, and a serviceable 27. Rosy would probably be a second pair guy on the majority of NHL teams, and maybe a #2 on some teams that don't have the D depth.
Rundblad will probably be the go to #6 and log 10-12 minutes with Q overloading the top 4 with the major minutes. Depending on how the games go, Rundblad would probably get more time if there are leads of 3 goals or more, but I don't see the Ducks or Flames forechecking as fierce as the Wild did. Minnesota got prime chances to take leads and make this more than a 4 game series. If the puck didn't bounce on Suter last evening or if Craw didn't make timely saves this series goes 6, maybe 7 with the Hawks still pulling it out.
The Ducks and Flames rely on their big forwards/forechecking - and finishing their checks specifically....which is what makes the Runblad matchup even worse. He does not like to be hit....at all.
While many cried about Rozy...the fact is he was never scared to take a hit to make a play. While he was very slow of foot, he was good in corners, in front of the net, in heavy traffic where most physical battles take place. He'd stick his nose in there. Next round - either ANA or CAL...that's the style of play they will try to impose on the Hawks. Neither Runblad or Cumisky will be eager to get in there and compete like that.
