I'd keep him around at least until training camp. If someone's starting back gets hurt and wants to give us an absurd offer then maybe listen to that. Otherwise, it doesn't hurt anything having him on the roster.

I wouldn’t trade Herbert. All 3 of the Bears backs have some injury history. It’s just the nature of the position. The room is perfect as is. Don’t **** with it. Will probably need all of them at some point. Let Herbert walk next year and draft another RB late. Churn and burn.

I doubt the Bengals would ever trade Hendrickson but if they did, Bears should offer a 3rd, Herbert, and a future late rounder. Plenty of free agent RB’s available on the cheap. And then extend Hendrickson 2years because that’s what he’s looking for. One last payday.

It would make zero sense. That is a win now team. You don’t trade 17 sack ends when you’re a legit Super Bowl contender

And they’ve basically already said it’s not happening

Bears have Swift and Johnson. Khalil Herbert is a good player at a who gives a **** position. The Bengals have a disgruntled edge rusher threatening to retire on them who just had 17.5 sacks. Is this the year Poles goes all in and pushes some dead money on to the books to sign Hendrickson?

I have no idea. Herbert and a third probably gets it done though, imo. If it's just Herbert for draft capital give them one of the Bears 6ths and recoup that 4th from the Booker trade up. Either way, it certainly makes you think.
they may want herbert but in no way are they going to trade hendrickson...they will call his bluff about retiring. this is their last chance to keep this roster together together for a big push for a superbowl.

The Bengals have already said they are not trading him, we can’t afford to extend him, this is not a go for it all one year season, it’s a non starter.

As far as trading Herbert, unless the offer is an overpay for him I wouldn’t consider it. Swift could get hurt, we need depth. Herbert is a very good number 2, with the anticipation of a great passing offense I could see Herbert and Swift a great combo in the run game,

They will want more than a third. The Bears will have to give up at least one of their extra second round picks and a future second round pick. Id be fine with that.

Herbert isn't a going to move the needle much in a deal for an annual 10+ sack defender that's got another 3 quality years left in the tank.

The Bengals can find other trades for a HB without essentially giving away their top passrusher. You have to give something to get something and in this case a one dimensional HB isn't going to net much trade value in any scenario.

I'm all for a trade for a dominant vet passrusher like Hendrickson. It is exactly what the Bears defense needs at both DE positions.

The NASCAR fronts that the Bears could field with Hendrickson on passing downs alone are enough to get excited with Sweat as the GHOST 5TECH, Walker as the SHADE, Hendrickson as the 3TECH, and Booker on the HEAD UP 6TECH. That alone would be fun to watch as a sub package with a base defense that will be top 5.

So instead of just grabbing a 4th and signing one of the 100 RBs off the streets for the year, the Bears should just hold tight and let him walk for nothing next year, then use another draft pick on an RB? Would much rather get a return on the guy, personally.

They aren’t getting 2 - 2nds for him. He does play a premium position but he’ll be 30 by the end of the year and wants a new contract. Sneed, although at CB but it is a premium position, only got a 3rd despite being younger.
They can easily get a 2nd but new contract demands are going against the leverage they have if they decide to trade him. Bears should send Bengals DE Walker as a throw in. (And again I don’t think they trade him).

I have no issue trading herbert if it means we get to see more roschon.

This team should be passing 60% of the time at least with all the weapons, that means herbert is useless 60% of plays.

Would be surprised if they get a 4th

They won’t be passing 60% of the time. They want to be balanced and not put everything on Caleb, who will not come in and just start slaying the league. He’ll need some time. The weapons and RB depth will help him do that.
