YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Another overrated Bull is poised to steal $$$ from the organization. :crazydance:

Knew this would happen the second Asik verbally agreed to the Rockets deal. It's moronic to pay a backup $8M (averaged out over span of contract) to provide 3ppg & 5rpg, but thank Noah's chronic ankle injuries for making this move a necessity.

How on God's green earth can you rationalize paying Omer Asik 8-9 million dollars a season because Noah has sprained his ankle and missed time twice in his career?

You think I am? I'm talking about the Bulls FO. That's their rationlization, not mine.

I think the move is incredibly stupid & have stated so ad naseum on this board.

Omer! You needed to go to Houston.....but looks like we'll be stuck with a little more of that awkward unpredictable offensive game you got.

GarPax are complete dumbasses if they do match this. An offensively inept center who may be great defensively is not worth anywhere near the money he's getting. There's no way in hell they're winning a championship w/ the money they've tied up in Asik, Boozer, and Noah.

They do realize that bonehead contracts like this, is why there was a lockout to begin with. :smh:

Asik will be paid more in the last year of this deal than in any year of Luol Deng's or Joakim Noah's contracts.

That's the reason Houston offered that kind of contract. Give him two years to develop and maybe become better and then in the final year 15 million because they know the Bulls wouldn't want to match that, but now apparently they do.

This is what I was recently talking about with some friends. The owners were complaining about needing to overpay players so they can't leave.. and all we've been seeing is owners continuing to overpay players.

For Asik to get paid this much money... why doesn't Loul or Noah both have 100 million dollar contracts?

As for the Bulls matching... it's obviously a terrible idea. I honestly don't know why the Bulls even let Omer test the market if they knew they were going to match any offer. Why not just offer him a reasonable deal that we can live with? They should have known that there would have been that one team out there that would have overpaid for Asik. There's always that one team.

I don't even see what the Bulls plan is tbh. A couple of years ago it was obvious that our plan was to clear cap space for that huge FA summer. Right now, it looks like the Bulls have no idea what the **** they're doing. If they match Asik, we won't have any cap space for FA's in the future. We'll have Noah's deal, Rose's deal and then they'll amnesty Boozer's last year that's worth 16.8 million only to replace it with Asik's 15 million dollar final year. Smart move. And the fact that there were rumors about the Bulls trying to trade Luol Deng to move up in the draft so they can take Harrison Barnes is laughable. Yeah, trade Deng to move up to take a virtually poor man's Deng, but don't trade Deng + pieces for Melo [a year ago]. Makes sense. Sure, I guess we could be in a position to trade Deng and Noah in a year.. but with how trigger shy the Bulls have been in trade talks, I kind of doubt we'll be the one's wheeling and dealing.

This team is gonna be hard to watch for 2-3 seasons.

Not sure I like that comparison a ton. I think Barnes is more athletic and project better as a guy who can eventually take guys off the dribble. Even still if you could get rid of Deng;s deal and move up to get a really nice player in Barnes I think they should have done it. Getting rid o Deng's salary would have been really nice....had they decided to not end up replacing it with Asik's.
