Rumor: Bulls trade Luol Deng to Magic for Pietrus and Gortat.

If this is true. WE GOT A LOT BETTER QUICKLY. Gortat is a really good defender that could come off the bench and keep our defense good.

Pietrus is a good defender that can hit the 3.

Now just package Hinrich/17th pick to another team and we might be set for July 1st.

I have mixed feeling about a trade like this.

The Good: You get two quality role players that add needed depth to our team. Like mentioned Pietrus can hit threes and defend. I love Gortat as a backup C. Hes been on my radar as a backup C for a bit now. We talked about him a lot on scout. You could move them in other trades a lot easier than Deng. The Bulls probably feel sold on getting LeBron because this is a move you make if you know he's urs.

The Bad: If we dont find a way to trade them, that leaves a 2nd max FA out of the question. If LeBron doesnt come here, this really hurts our team IMO. Neither of these guys can make a Deng type impact.

This is a few days old. Apparently it was Orlando that proposed this.

If this is true, we should jump all over it. It might be true but sort of tabled because this Chris Paul pursuit became hot and heavy and Orlando, allegedly, is one of the suitors.

Both of them combined will make a way more impact than Deng.

They both can defend and even score. Especially when Rose penetrates.

Looking at the #s, Deng does as much as both of them combined. 2 heads are always better than one but neither of them can make an impact like Deng when he's on. Having a backup big like Gortat is great and he could really help but this deal only looks great if we land LeBron.

Dont you think it gives us more flexibility for trade partners, whether its Dallas, who was interested in Gortat last year, or Toronto, whose offense tries to resemble what Orlando does?

I dont see them taking Kirk unless they move Calderone and/or Jack. But you would think they want a starting big. I dont know if Gortat could be that guy.
