Bump.

Good game bu Rundblad.

Won't put any hashtags in it so Dmelt doesn't get butthurt.

Didn't think he had a good game at all. Several turnovers in his own zone...one when he tried passing the puck to himself behind the net, another when he threw a grenade through the slot and TB had a quick 3 on 2, and others that I am sure I have forgotten. He definitely played better game 7 versus the Ducks but not tonight.

Was surprised to see that he had a couple more minutes than Cumiskey though (around 7 minutes total).

Going to be really interesting to see what Q does with TVR here...

Feels like Q only benches guys when those turnovers lead directly to goals though.

I'm not going to rule out TVR getting back into the lineup, but I've got a hard time believing a guy who hasn't seen NHL action in, what, 6 months(?) is going to be any better than the current players.

Agreed that none of his turnovers resulted in anything bad. We just saw Q bench a couple of guys after a dramatic overtime win, so I wouldn't put it past him to bench a Dman and put TVR in. TVR is a Q kind of guy and I'm thinking he is just waiting for the right time to put him in there and hope he can eat up 8-10 minutes and have no one notice that he is even out there.

Well if that's the case, then I think it'd be a lot easier to do when the Hawks are at home.

O wow, a +1. Guess that's all I need to know on several levels.

He also had no turnovers based on any statiscal factor of turnover... not sure what you saw there about that either.

There was the one moment the puck was knocked out of the O zone and he was the only D back to gather it, and he protected it well and made sure to not turn it over in his D zone, and he never got trapped in the Dzone at any point in the game. If that was what you considered the turn over when he passed the puck behind the net, by you mean, not letting the other team touch the puck, or even have possession but keep it yourself and get it over to your teammates moments later, yeah. That wasn't any turnover.

He played well and deservingly played more than Cumiskey by in game play. Cumiskey had more issues as he tried carrying the puck up and got into scrums by the blue line not getting the puck out.

I remember the play HW is referencing here ... the puck was turned over when Rundblad threw it up the boards to no one in particular. I don't think that gets classified as a turnover in the official stats. They only do that when someone takes the puck directly off of your stick.

Okay, I can get those moments, I think he did throw some passes out there but those really aren't the struggling plays you fear out of that bottom player. When you wanna get better I don't think TVR is going to keep the possession so strongly in those times either. He would just let the puck lose safely in that role too. I don't think this is the time when TVR will get a jump in the roster though

He showed a lot of confidence to shoot the puck tonight.

Im having no issues with the blad for a #6. I think hes doing what is asked of him just fine.

Even easier now that the Hawks have at least one win to work with heading back to Chicago. Game 2 might fill some holes and try to get names we would not normally see on the Cup.

Don't be surprised if TVR or Timonen comes in for Rundblad.

I'd be very surprised if we saw TVR or Timonen simply because the Blackhawks are up 1 game and because it would be "nice" to have their names on the Cup. That's playing with fire right there. Not smart.

If the Blackhawks win the Cup, it is looking more likely that Timonen will have to petition to get his name on it - which I imagine he would win due to his injury that caused him to miss almost all of the season.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Runblad wasn't the only one who couldn't pass to save his life last night. The whole team seemed like they mis-timed it, passed straight to the opposition, or couldn't hit the broadside of both Billy Gardell and Melissa McCarthy.

I was lukewarm to him and Cumiskey last night...They were neither bad (like Sharp was) nor good (like Vermette/TT were).

But to me that's the best part... there is no pressure on them. In order to be good, the just have to not be bad. They were not bad last night. So to me they were good.
