He’ll be 32 and has trouble playing a full season. As a stopgap on a short deal I can get behind that. He’d do wonders for Caleb developing presnap looks/changes/identifyers/etc.

I don’t know why anybody suggests Ryan Bates for anything. Cut that preinjured bum.

Saves 4 million. I'd rather give that money to Pryor to be a backup than bates.

You need to have both types. Pryor can back up everything but center. Bates can back up all three interior positions. I am fine with cutting Bates but you need a replacement for him.

Bates has a bum shoulder. There's no reason to keep him. All hope of him contributing is pretty much lost.

Did you read my post? I said I am fine cutting him but you need a replacement for him that can play center and guard.

Pryor fills a different role

I read it. You made it sound like it's optional and you would understand cutting him. I'm saying it's not optional, the Bears need to cut him. He takes up a roster spot as a seemingly terminally injured player, never mind the money.

We don’t know his medicals so I can’t agree. If he’s done medically then he’s done. I just don’t know if he is or not. But I get it….. everyone is a doctor on CCS.

All that said yeah, he is probably gone.

Thats not remotely true. He’s one of the best run blocking C in the NFL and is decent in pass protection. He’s also only 26 so still room for improvement too.
He has injury history and will want a bag. This is exactly the type of guy who burns the Bears all the time.

I would rather have Kelly or Shelton on a one year deal and draft a rookie than pay him a ton for 3-4 years.

I actually think Shelton settled in pretty nicely after a rough start. Re-sign him and draft a guy like Zabel to finally bring some stability to that position long-term.

Pass on Dalman. Not a fan. Let some other team overpay him.

I would love this.

Ultimately, BJs input is going to be paramount with the entire OL. Whichever direction they decide to go in, BJ will be 100% on board so we’ll see what happens.

I’m fine with Shelton or Kelly on a 1 year deal.

Shelton really played better after Davis went to a healthy scratch
