Camping is awesome. I camp every weekend all summer long.
Maybe. But I like camping too. Why camp when you can sleep indoors? Hell, why even bother walking when we could all ride around on rascals like Omelet does. I won't try and convince you that sailing is awesome....but there is a connection you get with the wind, water etc that you can't experience on a power boat.
Yale has a sailing team

So do Columbia, Princeton, Harvard, Penn... what's your point?
Realize it's kind of a random topic, but anyone here into sailing?
It looks like a fun activity, don't get me wrong.... its just something I have never experienced, and I have alot of those thoughts about shit lol.
Every single time I watch Man V Food I wonder what a starving Ethiopian would say if he could watch it with me.... like "Wait.... you mean he is going to try to eat that 5 pound burrito.... for fun? And people watch this? For entertainment?!?!"

I had no clue a school would have a sailing team. Thats one heck of an expensive sport/extra curricular

Planning on doing the live-aboard eventually, of course registered out of Islamorada. I'll have to take a few refreshment courses, been years since I sailed...let alone anything this large in the Atlantic.

Never tried sailing.... always struck me as one of those funny things we have turned into a recreational/competitive activity from something that used to be the only way to do something.
I always kinda imagine if you could transport Magellan or some similar explorer here and be like "Look, we sail in these days too" and he spots a speed boat and asks about it and you explain modern boat technology and he just goes "What.... the **** is wrong with you people"
nvan, you just need to meet people with boats and bring beer. They will teach you how to said.
Anyone with beer that will switch the jib is always welcome aboard.
