Right, because I never ever ever post evidence or substance or anything like that.

None that are thoughts of your own. But thats what parrots do. And the problem with that, is that when you totally surrender yourself over to Bill James and others, you're ill-equipped to speak to those who haven't.

There's a Winston Churchhill quote about how you shouldn't waste your time talking to the monkey when the organgrinder is in the room. Guess who's the monkey.

By having an original thought, aren't I turning myself over to Bill James because that's what he did. He had an original thought.

Excuse me for using metrics that are good. I forgot that we were supposed to go backwards and not forward.

You don't understand what an original thought is.

Having an original thought with due to new baseball statistics means you have to actually bring up a new formula. Not just follow what has already been thought of.

That's exactly what I'm saying.

How many people on here actually have a n original thought anyway?

Me. Didn't see Bill James saying the Reds would suck this year, and everybody called me crazy for suggesting it.

You need to stop wasting everyone's time and cluttering the board. Everyone knows what you're going to say before you say it.

i'm sorry for indirectly defending CO here but what the **** does this mean?

no one brings up new formulas...especially not in baseball

an original thought is simply a thought that is authentic and based on your own perception...it doesnt have to be completely unique(in other words exclusive from other thoughts...because how would we agree on anything if we had only completely unique thoughts?) but it does have to factor your own ideas rather than completely basing on someone else

in some cases, if you do completely or almost agree with someone, say so and why...

and not every post on here is going to be original...sure authenticity is one thing...but the actual quality of the post is important too...saying "giant bull buttholes"..i mean thats an original thought isnt it?

also i'd argue the authenticity of the post should come from the ideas and conjectures based off of the statistics and not the statistics themselves...

The idea that some here live and die by what metrics say is wrong, its nice to bring more and more metrics into the picture when evaluating players, but they shouldn't be the end-all, be-all for judging a player.

Who lives and dies by what they say? I don't. Example: the bunting. Sure, the numbers say you shouldn't bunt, but if you have a guy in a 0-for-20, you should probably have him bunt.
