Hope it was nothing too serious. It's a bad look all around, but they did what they had to do immediately especially with all the hypersensitive spotlights on them where were well earned. Hopefully just some mild hazing stuff. I can imagine though this swift and definitive action was pretty harsh. Maybe he was just betting on games.

I assume he would as the investigation is ongoing.

Also

“This does not involve any players or their families, and anything...or anyone that suggests otherwise is wildly inaccurate,” Davidson said. “Frankly, it’s disgusting.”

I'm glad Davidson at least said that, but I still don't understand why he won't be totally transparent. Just state why. If you appreciate the fans -- like every GM and player says they do -- then you owe them the explanation, especially when there are these ridiculous rumors floating around about your next young superstar of the franchise.

Because parts of the investigation are still ongoing? I don't think they owe us every detail. They said their was an issue. It was big enough to can him over, and they moved swiftly to do that. Everything else is just fans morbid curiosity. Sure I'd love to know what he did, but I can't say that I've done anything for the team that entitles me to immediately know every detail. If all he had said was Corey Perry has been let go due to locker room issues, that would be one thing. But we've actually got quite a bit of information. And given the size of the contract and the fact that Perry is silent and not fighting for the millions he just lost and may never play again. That should say enough and he shot down rumors like you said so I think they did about as good as any organization so far in this situation. We may not be done hearing more eventually.

I'm not going to start any wild rumors, but I will say that it's interesting Paul Sullivan for some reason decided to link this to another case where the hawks brought in a hated player that we would love to have on our team. Column: Chicago Blackhawks management under microscope again. I'm not sure how anecdotal it is or if there is any other underlying other similarities here between the journey of Probert and Perry.

I'm taking the mindset that if there is a possible crime that happened you don't want to dox all parties until legal proceedings are over; it might taint a jury pool or open up a lawsuit.

As someone said, eventually the truth will confess to light.

I see your point but for an organization that's so hellbent on being "transparent" ever since the KB stuff, this just goes to show that it's status quo, unless the below is accurate:

Dan Abrams of all people waded into the topic last night. He had on a guest from TSN who made an excellent point: that this was probably a workplace harassment situation, involving someone with the organization, but not a player or coach. The guest said that, if that's true, then he legally can't divulge the details publicly.

And now Perry has made a statement. It would seem to be related to an alcohol problem. And again reiterated that it has nothing to do with anyone in the organization and their families. Something that should have been apparent from the start but you know... internet. I'm sure they'll dream up some story about shots and hookers. People forget that social media does not actually mean journalism.

I read that Perry drank a handle of Grey Goose, dropped his gloves and fingerbenged several player's mothers and a trainer's auntie.
