I'm going to assume you were at a private store. It costs more money to buy beer if you're not in a government liquor store. Privately owned liquor stores charge insane amounts for beer and wine. It's really stupid. I'm not claiming that our liquor laws aren't ridiculous, but Bud Light normally isn't that expensive. </p>

Not even in Finland is the beer that expensive. But you can buy that at any store, the stronger stuff (over 4.7%) you need to buy from the state owned liquor store. And I actually think it's a good arrangement, the assortment of wine is great and relatively cheap since they are a big buyer.
