I wish him a great recovery. While the Cubs have plenty of depth, let's not discount team chemistry. Everybody likes him.

Game 3 and 1/8 of lineup out for season

Why am i noy surprised?

Same thing happened in 85 with 60% of rotation done by june.

Having heyward helps but we now get severely right handed in left field (soler-sczur-bryant)

I think this actually may help Soler a bit in a perverse way. He right now won't have to worry about each AB being an audition for more playing time so he might relax a bit at the plate. Obviously you hate to see this (and you wonder if Kyle is ever going to be a catcher again) so right now, you just want Kyle to rehab and come back next year.

Kind of strange that the last time the Cubs got close to the world series, they lost one of their best home grown players to a ACL that year (Corey Patterson).

So many things suck about this

I feel bad for Schwarber first of all. It really changes the depth of the team too from "wow that team is deep" to "ok, nobody else get hurt". It kills a year of his learning the catching position. Maaaan!

But curses don't exist and 1985 doesn't influence 2016. Knock it off

Makes the Dexter Fowler signing even bigger now..

Soler needs to show he belongs and is an everyday player now..

For all of you that were so damn eager to trade position depth for pitching....how you feeling about that now?

I wish they had kept Castro.

Two points:

1) This sucks. The Cubs are a less fun team without Schwarber's swagger at the plate.

2) The Cubs are still World Series contenders and the best team in the league.

Well then you wouldnt have zobrist.

How many times do you need to hear it from theo/jed.....those moves while independent were tied together.....so you wouldnt have both and zobrist gives you more flexibility

They have 2 SH in the lineup and LH Rizzo and Montero. Against RHP, they have almost half on the left side and if Zobrist or Bryant goes to LF and LaStella plays 3B or 2B they add another lefty yet.

I don't. They didn't want Castro. I am happy he is playing somewhere that fits him and he started off hot. I am a Castro fan, but Russell is going to be very good.

And of course you believe that. It's money, something the Cubs have a boatload of. If they didn't, they wouldn't be rebuilding half of Wrigleyville. Plus there's more on the way with a new TV contract coming. It's the company line. But putting the 26 yr old Castro, the 34 yr old Zobrist and a minus of 8 years of baseball longevity thing aside.....save for a few of us, most everyone on this board wanted them to move Soler, Baez or both for pitching.

This really blows man. He's a great bat to have in the line up, but we have so much depth that we'll be fine. Soler will get more at bats and I fancy that once Baez is ready he'll get some AB's at 3rd while Bryant is in left

Sorry to see any player get hurt. But if it kills a year of his "catching experiment" I will consider that a silver lining. That ship needs to sail. No way, no how he should ever catch again. Contreras is the future there.

But that is not to minimize the loss or the effect on Schwarber. I can't imagine being a player having to sit out like that. Those that do and stay committed - and there are many - have earned my respect.
