Currently in China for the New Year, this country has gone Special person over the corona virus. People who were apathetic over SARS when it killed over 700 people are now terrified to leave the house over something that’s killed less than 25. I’m in a province with only 4 cases (out of like 80 million people) and people are acting like it’s the walking dead.
So US is not fucked at all because of corona virus... 6000 people in the states died of flu in 2019 and no one blinked, this will be 0.01% as serious as the flu.

This is comparable to some of the lesser strains of Ebola or marburg with its 10% death rate.
I think a vaccine will be released in record time in the U.S., because they were able to track first transmissions and locate the source: snakes.
This is 10% with an air born transimission though? Or close contact?

10% with an airborn transmission is bad...and not being near chicago will only buy you a couple weeks or months likely. Its gonna run its course if its airborn like the flu.
Stock up on some canned food, masks, latex gloves, and things that help you avoid going out in public, or protect you if you do.

But whatever, it's clear the Chinese Government is lying about the total number infected, and with the Chinese New Year, and the Superbowl, and Trump as President, it's only a matter of time till we're all on the train to Fucksville. I live in a place that rural enough that I don't have to worry. My dad was a prepper before people knew about prepping. He spent the family savings on powered milk because Reverend Jim Baker said it was only a matter of time before the Rapture took Trump, leaving us vulnerable for North Korea to invade Colorado and take our guns. Mom left him after he was caught talking to a Porn star and promising her a place in the basement. He said if Rev Jim can forgive her, so could he, but Mom wasn't having it and done ran oft'd with Vern. Probably for the best though, He had a cow and a chicken.

2.8k sick and only 31 deaths, where you getting 10% from? So far it hasn't killed anyone younger than 48, and the 48 year old had pre-exsting heart condition that got complicated by the virus.

Well, most death tolls are much higher than that and climbing.
Second, 2.8k are the number of infected, not the number who have had the virus fully run its course.
Its not time to panic but soon it may be time to take precautions with gloves/mask if it goes world wide.

This is a good point, but until it kills healthy able-bodied people the biggest risk to non infants/elderly/already infirmed is the inconvenience of being quarantined or shitting your pants. With that said, I had to cut my China vacation short because of it, I don’t want to risk spending 2 weeks in a JiangXi quarantine and “don’t shit my pants” is generally very high on my list of things to do each day.
