Giddey looked good against France too. His last second inbound pass was silk. France's Twin Tower setup has been piss poor on chemistry, but nevertheless, that's one hell of a challenge to work around.

On a kind of related note, I noticed Chase Budinger was playing in the Olympics...for beach volleyball. Anyone remember him from his NBA days? Not surprised he made Olympics in volleyball...dude has crazy hops

I do remember him but initially I had him confused with Matt Bonner. I was like how is he only 36?

USA dominates South Sudan this time around. Tatum started this game after not playing at all vs Serbia. Haliburton also got some run. Embiid didn't play. Pretty subpar game from the starting group, but the bench made up for it

The only weird thing is Embiid didn't make this decision when he was 19.

France tried to steal him, I think it's Cameron or US for him and the center position is handicapped anyway, three centers wouldn't have changed things for France without Tony Parker.

He says his son is American and he wants to win gold for him, that's fucking awesome. I don't think when that vision comes true he will give a **** what a bunch of imbociles who comment on others personal choices think.

US unsurprisingly cruised to victory in group play. Looks like Kerr is now committed to playing Tatum as a starter after backlash from his benching vs Serbia. Embiid was back in the starting lineup vs Puerto Rico, Jrue Holiday did not play. Haliburton now seems to be only nominally in the rotation with Derrick White getting more minutes consistently

Will be interesting to see how other countries do in the knockout rounds. Canada has been very good, but to be expected with nearly an entire roster of NBA players. Germany, France, and Australia looking good so far as well. I suspect Germany may well be the primary challenger to the US for gold when it's all said and done

Giddey's Olympic run ends early as Australia falls to Serbia. Here's his stats

Canada doesnt have the size to match us and I think Canada will have problems with France twin towers even if they havent been great together. We specifically sold Embiid to match up against France. All and all US should win, but no cake walk.

Definitely won't be an easy path no matter who they end up playing

USA comes back down 15 in the 4th to beat Serbia and advance to play France for gold. Too close for comfort, but Curry, KD, Embiid and Bron came through in the clutch.

Curry goes nuclear in the 4th again to help USA seal the gold over France. Heck of a game from what I understand (only got to see the last 5 minutes). World basketball is really coming up though, only gonna be harder each time

What is Curry? Is he a PG or SG? Let's think about the greatest of all time. Is he top 10 now? Has the rings, the medal, the individual awards. Is he top 10? Yes, never a defender. But, he also changed the game of basketball. He is the GOAT shooter of all time. Opinions?

On PG vs SG, he's capable of playing both, combo guard for sure. He does so well off the ball, but if you want him to be a playmaker, he can do that too. As he rose to prominence, and as Draymond emerged as the player he is, Curry's passing responsibility became less so he doesn't have massive assist numbers, but if you know you know. His assist stats are also still above average with that.

I think he's gotta at least be in the conversation for top 10. His defense is underrated as well, I don't think he's as bad as many want to make him out to be. Not lockdown or anything, but I don't think he's the traffic cone people want to portray him as.
