Theres a difference between being a "realist" and being a pessimist and this thread is a good example of that.

There is a difference between a "realist" and "pessimist". The posts in this thread describing the reasons to hope that LeBron will come to the Bulls are, cogent, persuasive, optimistic, and ... realistic.

A lot of the pessimists are saying "don't get your hopes up," and "you're setting yourselves up for a let down." Why not get your hopes up? What would this world be like if there was no hope. Who wants to live in a hopeless pessimistic world? Not me.

I will get my hopes up, thank you. I hope the Bulls get LeBron, and if they don't, I hope they get another big time free agent that can take them to the NBA Championship. I hope the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup, this year. I hope the Bears make the playoffs and go to the Superbowl next year. I hope the Cubs and Sox can turn their seasons around (even though there's little hope of that.)

Some of these things won't happen. Maybe none of them will happen. That's OK. I choose to hope for them anyway. And if and when my hopes are dashed, I'll be alright. I've been disappointed many times in my life and I can handle it.

The pessimists can sit back and wait for disappointment to come and when it does, they can smugly say, "See? I told you so!" if that's what makes them happy. I can't live that way. I won't live that way, and I don't have to.

Hope springs eternal ...
