Okay, so I'm looking for a new car. I don't know what I want.

What brands/models are reliable?

I really like a lot of the new Chevy's, like the Malibu's and Impala's. The interior, to me, is pretty nice. I prefer an SUV, but I feel like all the SUV's I like are out of my price range.

What are some cars you guys recommend?

Prepare to have alot of 30-50k car ideas thrown at you BNB.

For some reason people always seem to take this topic as "Tell me your super expensive ideal car you would buy if you had alot of money to burn"

What is your price range?

I've actually been looking for a new car as well, but it appears virtually no one makes decent coupes anymore. Getting rid of my 2001 Acura CL type-S; we've had a good run but it's time. My options look like a bunch of Hondas (trying to avoid), a Mustang, Camaro, Callenger, or Mercedes. What happened to the market of mid-size coupes that was rampant a decade ago?

But, anyways, Malibus look nice and seem to be well built, I just don't like the steering feel (too light, as if you're driving an old Buick).

Toyota has been quite reliable for me and my family, but a RAV4, though affordable, is definitely not as aesthetically pleasing as most other SUVs.

I was looking at Mustangs and Challengers too. For some reason I just don't like Camaros. I drove one and it just wasn't for me. But if I had the money, I think I'd get the new Mustang. Those look pretty sweet imo

I know what you mean about the steering wheel though. It does feel light.

I'm guessing that "what's wrong with my car" thread didn't go so well...

Nope. Everything combined was gonna run me like 1,200-1,300. My mechanic told me some other shit was starting to wear out too and I'll need to bring it back in within the next couple of months.

A lot of people always say don't buy American, but from what I've been reading, it looks like American cars have been more reliable lately.

I was also looking at the newer Nissan Altimas, but I've read that those have been having a shit ton of reliability issues over the last several years, even though it's a Japanese brand.

Well ain't that a *****.

Toyota anything will run forever. But I've been really impressed with the newer models kia has been putting out recently. Specifically the optima and the forte.

A nice price conscious car would be the Chevy Cruze. Great MPG, practical, and quality cars.

I'm with you on the Camaro. They made it too damn big (it's based off of a Chevy Australia platform that also accommodates the SUVs and such over there), and the sight lines out of it are shit -- it feels like driving in a cardboard box while peering out of the handle slits. Same deal with the new Chargers (why I didn't include that in the list). I'm thinking about a Mustang but up until last year they had a solid rear axle, but don't think I want to put up the cash for a 2015-16 (have about 15K I can put down, more or less). That and unless you go for the GT the new Mustangs come standard with a turbo-4, and it just doesn't feel right driving a 4-cylendar Mustang...

Oh, and the girlfriend thinks "Mustangs look douchey, and you're not that type of person," so she is advocating for a Merc CL/CLK.

Why? Toyota's are pieces of shit. If you hit a squirrel, your entire front end will be totaled.

Ha....mechanically, they're sound and will run forever.

I don't want to shit on American cars, but they don't build the best cars, let's be honest. I'd look at Subaru, Honda, Toyota

After the whole auto crisis and recall fiasco, Americans are very reluctant to buy from GM, Ford and Chrysler anymore but their vehicles are coming back. I'd put the new Chevy Impala up against any piece of shit Mid Size car that Toyota can make. The newer Ford Taurus is also nice, but I'm not much of a Ford guy. Just my opinion.

I have a 2012 Dodge Durango.... has had a few recalls, the big one being the Alternator which died on me before I got it in for the recall, but otherwise has been solid.

I think Dodge is an underrated maker.... my bro-inlaw has had his Dodge Stratus for like a decade, my ma had one for like 7 or 8 years without any major issues.

Lol people forget about Dodge when talking American cars.
