Don't do what I did...I had a long term relationship in high school that went into my freshmen year of college...and after that break up I kinda just moped around for a year after that breakup. At the time I was never one who took failure and rejection very well, and after a failure with an attempt with some girl happened, I basically backed off and wouldn't do shit with anyone. In general, I've always been someone who would rather be in a relationship than just a casual fling or what not. However, later on I did have a few flings that I thought might have relationship potential, but they went no where (bullshit drama was usually involved).

I had a relationship earlier this year that only lasted a month as the girl and I were better off being friends than in a relationship (We became much closer as friends, and no, there are no benefits involved).

At 23, nearing 24, living with my parents and done with school, it's hard to meet for me to meet many new people. So at 18, unless you live on your computer all day, its not going to be that hard to meet new people. IF you're going to go to college, there are plenty of people to meet. So go out and have fun. Something I wish I did more of from 18-21...but whatever. Nothing I can do about that now, just have to make the most of the future.
I learned that lesson when I was 16. Fucked me up for months then finally moved on. I've only been in two or three real relationships. More of a fling guy. But its starting to bug me for some reason.

The heart longs for companionship. "Hook-ups" and flings leave you with a sad, empty feeling.

Maybe long term was a bad choice of words but I was better with meeting girls in grammar school. (5th-8th grade)

Haha I was reading his muff diving thread a couple weeks ago with an ex (5 years not being together but still friends) sitting on my lap... We laughed and made jokes.... The next night she also stayed with me and... Well... Imagination time!

But on topic.... I just don't know about girls man... I started off being a committed dude until a couple relationships took a stinky shit. Even the above mentioned lady. So now I don't trust them and I am pretty much a short term fling type person since.... It's fun and less stressful for me to a point. I am definitely not Dr. Phil or Dr. Drew.

Everyone's experience is different. I was never in any sort of relationship until I was 19, but I have been with that person for the past 10 years. It doesn't always work out that way, but when it does for the most part it is worth it. I really did mean that part about the lows and highs of even a committed relationship can be a lot, but again I only have my experiences to go by on that front.

My experiences seem to be on par with yours so I'll second this.

Nah. As long as you're happy, it's all good. Can't be over if you really love her. :)
