A guy who refuses to play defense because he doesn't want to isn't cancerous?

If it hurts Boozers feelings, too f***ing bad! Tell him to grow the f*** up and start being a good teammate by playing defense like everyone else.

He isn't cancerous. Gar/Pax bought Boozer, knowing damn well what his game brings to the table.

You don't buy a rooster, then shit a brick because it doesn't lay eggs.

I think there is no doubt Taj should start over Boozer. The bulls dont isolate for Boozer cause he cant score like he used to. Taj may be more consistent with his jumper if he got more PT and Boozer might do better with the second unit and they could run the offense through him and he would be going against weaker opponents. I think hes something you need to definitely consider and experiment with

14.7ppg 8.5rpg 52% from field all in 30mpg. Are those the numbers of a scrub or role player? Can we stop treating Boozer like he's a complete sack of garbage just cuz he makes $13mill this season? Boozer starts because he's better than Taj. It's really that simple. Boozer is the ONLY big on our team with a consistent jumpshot to draw defenders out of the lane so Rose can penetrate. He's also the only big on our team with 20+ point potential on any given night.

Fans overrate Taj so much it makes me laugh. He's a great role player, & excellent interior defender but that is it. You won't be able to lean on Taj to carry you for a few games, like was done with Boozer when Rose went out.

It doesn't matter who starts. However, I do hope Gibson gets more playing time than Boozer. Gibson already closes out game oppose to Boozer and that is the way it should be. Thibs closes out with defense, not offense, which is pretty rare in the NBA.

Boozer may play bad D or no D at all, but cancerous is the last thing he is. He's a good teammate and at this point if he can give the Bulls 16 and 10 on a nightly basis, he's fine in my book.

Because 14 points and 8 boards is not much. :tiptoe:
It's not in the grand scheme of things, when he's paid to be a 20/10 guy.

However, as Diddy posted earlier, Boozer had 3 quarters to get those stats in Utah, and now, Thibodeau has got him down to about 30 minutes a game.

Amnesty Boozer please

We don't use him enough for him to be a 20/10 guy. He's paid to be a scorer and rebounder. He's doing the rebounding part pretty well, but yeah he does need to give us a little more on offense. But he's being used as the 3rd option right now. That's really more of a fault on the offensive design than Boozer's individual skill.

14 and 8 isn't that bad. 6 more points and 2 rebounds and he'd be 20/10. Gibson is never going to be a 20/10 threat like Boozer is. Gibson is more of a 12/8 guy.

No, you can't start Taj over Boozer. This introduces a conflict from the players. First, you inflate Taj's ego and raise his market value well above what it's worth, and secondly you greatly increase the potential to create a cancerous player on the bench. The configuration, as is, is optimal. If Boozer is off his game, a good coach should give the minutes to the performer, and if that is Taj, then Taj off the bench for the 25+/23 split will be far more effective.

You are not going to inflate Taj's ego by starting him. He finishes games so if his ego is not inflated already, then it won't be. And GMs are too smart to raise the market value of a player just because he starts...didn't help Keith Bogans much did it?

Boozer is not a cancer, though he complains about not finishing games, I don't think he will be a cancer now. Plus who will listen to him? Noah is tired of him, so is Rose and the other players. They yell at him all the time because he misses defensive assignments. I don't think its that complex at all.

Yea he did that once & never said anything else after that. Boozer doesn't complain. He takes nothing but criticism from every angle, with reporters & fans, but you'll never hear anything but positives coming from his lips. Everyone is trying to turn this guy into a player he's never been. He's not a 20-10 guy. He never was (even in Utah he wasn't really) & fans & media-alike really need to get that expectation out of their heads.

As for Noah & Rose being "tired" of him, I don't really see that. Everyone really wants to make Boozer out to be the red-headed step child of the team, when I don't feel it's the case at all. But hey his kids rooted for Miami in the Heat-Bulls game, so cut his ass now!

You have to pay attention during the games to see it. It is pretty obvious. Rose yelling at him for not being where he should be, Noah yelling at him because Noah looks like he is out of position when he is guarding Boozer's man. Boozer is horrible defensively and seems to lack awareness...just because Boozer did certain things in Utah doesn't mean it doesn't frustrate his teammates. And just because he only complained once to the media doesn't mean he sits there not complaining. It definitely bothers him.

I just think almost everything when it comes to Boozer gets so overblown. If it bothers him, he sure as hell doesn't let anyone know about it. Everything out of his mouth is "winning" "team play" & "duh, winning". Honestly I don't think it bothers him as much as everyone else does. Dude is getting paid his last big contract & is on, as he called it, "the most talented team I've ever been on."
