But the fan support in Chicago skews well in favor of the Cubs. Come to think of it, how many people are really White Sox fans? To a large extent, it's about either being pro-Cubs or anti-Cubs in Chicago. Many of the anti-Cubs people become White Sox fans by default. So for many White Sox "fans", it's more about being anti-Cubs than it is pro-White Sox.

And if you doubt this, just check out how frequently the White Sox "fans" (ie anti-Cubs people) chime in on the Cubs board.

Their not bringing Hammel back... they got lucky with his first half, not gonna try and press that luck again..

Wood will probably get another opportunity to right this bad season

It's a crap shoot with pitching. It's really more about throwing balloons at darts than it is the opposite. But there is some mitigation of risk in focusing on different levels of assurance. Some pitchers are up and down and some pitchers take a steep decline quickly. Salary is a factor that heavily plays in to the cost of being wrong also. I think what you're putting out there is a good representation of weighing risk and cost but with the exception of paying for an arm that provides a decently high level of assurance in Maeda.

Several of the Japanese pitchers have been really good in recent years. There are some buyer beware issues to worry about in terms of usage, however.

The Cubs should be going after one of the big FA pitchers. If they miss, they should go mid tier guys. There is no reason for Wada to be in our rotation next year. He is not a ml starter on a decent team.

Artieta Hendricks and wood are probably locks in rotation as of now....

They probably go after 1 TOR type starter or next level if they cant land a top one via FA


The 5th man will probably come from either
Jackson Doubront Straily Wada Rusin Beeler


Only way I see them bringing in a 2nd new starter VIA trade or FA is if they decide to trade wood

He has pitched what 3 games? He is 33 years old. Remember when people thought Chris Rusin should have been in the rotation because he did well towards the end of last year. Yea, no, Wada is a swing man/injury depth nothing more.

It's not like Wada has spent all that time in the minors. He's been overseas for 2 years and we have team control for 6 years(I think?). Just because Chris Rusin didn't do well, doesn't mean that Wada can't. As long as he pitches well all year, I see him being a back end guy next year.
