Yes...Fonzie...

Cubs get:
Young

Rangers get:
Fonzie
money

I think it could be as easy as this but this will never happen. Same goes with any Young trade.

Not sure the Rangers would take back that contract.

Plus the issue seems to be if Young would be willing to play 2nd base. The Cubs don't have very many movable pieces right now and with the Rangers looking for a DH honestly the most attractive option to them would be a guy like Carlos Pena maybe, especially in that bandbox but I'm not as up on MLB contracts as I used to be. Pena isn't available to be traded until later this year correct?

I'm just not sure the Cubs have the pieces to make the trade happen without opening another whole or giving away more mid to upper tier prospects.

Soriano will play DH and he will help more than any other player the Rangers are rumored in acquiring. The next 3 seasons the contracts ar ealmost similar (Fonzie makes 2M more a year). But he has an extra year making 18M. The Cubs could give 10M for the final year and 5M more. So 15M all together and I think a trade could happen. Also Young would be open to 2B.

Texas not looking for spects. Also losing Soriano really does not hurt. Losing Soriano will be a reward and if the Cubs wanted to trade Young, he will be eaiser to trade.

I can google news stories too.

:smug:

In all seriousness though I just can't see the Rangers taking Sori back since he is pretty much a sinking ship at this point. He's a really streaky and hobbled guy to take on that much and take the DH spot when he more than likely won't even get to 30 HR's.

Maybe not a Fonzie/Young straight up trade but I can see that as a base trade.

The Rangers already had their Soriano experience, why take him back?

2011 16mil
2012 16mil
2013 16mil

soriano would have to be a part of the deal, but i do not see the rangers seeking his bat.

if they were to do spects for young (dont think they have enough) tom ricketts better stop asking for money.

carlos pena cannot be dealt now.

I'm sure if the Cubs option came up he would think about adding us.

Its not like were the Pirates or something overly shitty.

If we got Young (now) and then Pujols (next off-season), well, we'd be extremely scary.

Young wants out of Texas a lot.. So any trade that Texas comes up with he might accept, def is he can start. Also the Cubs is not a bad team and may be open to going too.

May not be a really bad team, but we aren't a good team either.

Yeah unless they are taking back either Soriano or Zambrano and Fukudome we better not be touching Young unless they are giving us 30 million dollar.

He isn't a bad hitter, but we do not need another bad contract on this team.

my dad is a truck driver and is going through Texas this morning and called me saying ESPN radio in Dallas is talking how Cubs and Tex are talking about a deal that would send Soriano to TEX for Young. ESPN in Texas saying the Cubs would be a perfect match for Young. They want a DH type hitter back and they know they will have to take someone bad contract to trade Young. I would jump on this so fast. Young would be a major upgrade at 2B and put up better numbers then soriano. Then the OF you could have Colvin in LF, Byrd CF, Fuku RF.......Then when Jackson ready to come up move Byrd to RF.....
