Well it's magical because the Chicago Bears are the only team in the history of the NFL to never have a QB throw for over 4,000 yards. 31 other NFL teams and they all have had a 4,000 yard passer.

The Bears will forever be the only team to not have a 4,000 yard passer in a 16 game season. 4,000.

Are you that bad at this?

Aren't you one of the ones who's always complaining about not having a great defense while inflating low round offense like it was doing something for the QB?
You can't have it both ways. You either want a team that can run with 31 other teams now or you want a team that can win 60 years ago.

I wouldn't say forever other than the NFL probably won't go back to 16 games. Eventually the ownership will change or eventually the fans will wise up and stop buying season tickets based on nostalgia and start demanding wins.

You do realize that no matter how many letters someone gets after their name they are still able to be scammers and subject to believing scams, right? Do you think Dr Oz is a good Dr since he stopped practicing? He pushed every BS quackery in the book to sell TV advertising.

Judging from the click bait title of her book and that she has a pod cast among many other red flags that scream quack she's not someone I'd trust to give me nutritional advice let alone medical advice.
And you can do a lot better cherry picking science than getting it from Scientific American. But I'm guessing she was about all you could find because there are many real medical sites with assorted studies showing it is not good.

When I heard Fields was a vegan I wanted to know the reason and never found one. I find that animal rights vegans tend to eat like crap. If it was for genetic health concerns Fields would have the money to get the very limited supply of vegetarian foods one needs to healthy but as far as I know nobody around here knows if he did.

I hear your points. There are definitely arguments for and against a vegan diet.
The thing dbldrew kept going back to was JF's diet some how inhibited his mental processing on thefield and a lack of vitamin B-12. I pointed out that JF could get vegan vitamin B-12. My additional point on JF is that he probably has access to the best professional nutritionists, medical advisors etc to correct any of his health issues on all levels. Please note I'm not promoting a vegan diet. People can eat what they want.

No I'm not. But thanks for assuming it was me and coming after me anyway.

The QB rules and matters more than anything else. You want to get to a Super Bowl you better have a Hall of Fame level QB or you better have a once in a lifetime defense.

mental health (mood, depression happiness etc) is not what was being debated, it was the decline of cognitive function (attention, memory, processing speed etc) that was the debate

and B12 is just 1 of many brain nutrients that vegans are deficient at.

edit and I was HOPEFUL that Fields slow to process what was happening was because of his vegan diet.. Now that he is no longer a vegan if that simple diet change helps fields with processing what he is seeing on the field faster then that will only help him out..

"......(attention, memory, processing speed etc) that was the debate"

In terms of processing speed this can be somewhat expected as he continues getting acclimated to a new offense and a inexperienced OC. I'm not seeing problems with attention and memory.

We've discussed the fact that there are vegan vitamin supplements he can take. Off the top of my head Omega 3
is a great brain supplement. I am pretty sure JF has a top flight nutritionist to cover all this.

A really fun trend the last 3 years involves people reading scientific studies, and all of a sudden they have the answers.
Pubmed has been available to the public a lot longer than 3 years - maybe more people have been using it since COVID. Agree most people are not trained to read them and most of the money that goes into studies in the US concerning food and health comes from sources that have solely a profit motive and have no real interests in people's health, often they are vested in our sickness and they are great in producing mass conflicting studies that keeps everyone confused on what to eat, including politicians and government agencies that might otherwise be held accountable for what is in our food system if the truths weren't purposely kept so murky.

The US is deeply corrupted and I think there are much better studies coming out of other countries.

Conservatives refusing to believe facts and studies because it's doesn't match their narrative.

That article about why he went vegan was interesting, although I thought he was vegan when he was drafted not just last year. If he went vegan on a bet/challenge he likely wasn't healthy about it. That's almost as bad as not wanting to harm animals and deciding you won't eat them and have french fries instead.
He does have the money and resources to be healthy about it but a challenge from his sister doesn't sound like the start of a well thought out plan.

Do the Bears supply a nutritionist to the players? My niece who is one wanted that job and I don't think she heard anything back.

I like the idea of him getting protein from fish. Pro sports on nothing but vegetables doesn't sound like a good plan.

I think Jennifer Gibson is the current Bear nutritionist/dietitian. I also saw where she associated with the NY Giants

From the article: Why Chicago Bears Quarterback Justin Fields Went Vegan And Never Looked Back
"When Fields’ sister brought a 28-day plant-based challenge up to the family in 2020, Fields joined in. At the time, he played for Ohio State, and he soon noticed a difference in his performance. “I just felt so good that I wanted to see how it made me feel while I was playing. I realized I felt lighter and faster overall after going plant-based,” Fields recalls."

My thing with dbldrew was being vegan had nothing to with JF's mental processing. What I didn't know was Brady, Newton and Derrick Morgan were on plant-based diets according to the Why Chicago Bears Quarterback Justin Fields Went Vegan And Never Looked Back article.

As for protein...... this article talks about plant-based protein sources.....Beans, Greens,Quinoa, Broccoli etc

The problem with AHA's list is how many of them are soy to make the list seem bigger than it is. Tempah, tofu, soy milk, soy burgers???

I mean if he wants to eat 15 potatoes rather than a piece of fish to get the same amount of protein go for it, but he's not feeling lighter or faster doing it. Most people go for the overly processed and concentrated soy products and that is one of the problems with a vegan diet. Soy Boy isn't a made up thing.
Meat is naturally concentrated and easy to digest.

So again, I like the idea of him getting some of the protein and other vitamins from a 4-8oz piece of fish rather than having to eat a truck load of vegetables a day. Plus our bodies are designed to process meat better than vegetables. Or in my case it doesn't process vegetables much at all.

These two are not wrong. The brain is a real medical concern (just one of many) with vegetarian diets. They are just using it to push their claims about Fields being slow with nothing to back it up.
You on the other hand seem to be pushing vegetarian diets. Why? Because it's contrary to them?

As far as Fields overall health I assume he's a millionaire, has an employer provided nutritionist, he can afford to be healthy. Unlike my college friend who was vegan before it was a fad, didn't care about health just didn't want to eat animals and was diagnosed as malnourished multiple times until she had no choice but to start eating meat.

I respect your points. As I mentioned earlier, anyone can eat what they want. As you mentioned, our bodies are different. So we definitely have to listen too our bodies.

Also as mentioned earlier, there are arguments for and against a vegan diet. I've seen varied information for and against how a vegan diet can affect the brain. Yes....JF is a millionaire and has a has an employer provided nutritionist.
If JF and his nutritionist agree on eating fish, I'm good with it 100 %.

As for the rest of us, all we can do is constantly research what we feel is best for us diet and health-wise.
