Indeed. if we did the entire franchise playoff history though it would be 3-2 for us. Funny how these 2 teams have only met each other 5 times in the playoffs yet we have this incredible new rivalry with them. its also odd that the 2 times they have beat us in the playoffs they went on to the cup final both times (to fail of course hehehe).



What exactly started this rivalry btw the 2 clubs. was it the Burrows hair pulling incident in march of 09 which just ignited everything going into that 09 series. Because prior to 2009 there was no real history btw these clubs other than Chelios dominating the 95 series which most if not all Canuck fans had long forgotten about nor cared about (but they were still whining about their 94 game seven loss to the Rangers).



its interesting to me just how fast 2 franchises became such bitter enemies. our rivalry with the wangs took years and years to develop. not so much with the canucks. it exploded rather fast.

It was probably both the Burrows incident and the series that started it all. I remember the Canucks being so sure of themselves prior to that and when they got their asses handed to them they got extremely butthurt. And in 2010 they were supposed to win again, but failed again. The whole "see you in the playoffs" comment to Kaner by Luongo in the handshake line in the Olympics probably didn't help either. There might have been things said and done during the first series that might have given that extra spice needed for the two teams to loathe each other.

For me it was the first series. All the whining and bitching while being one of the dirtiest teams in the league. The satisfaction of the Kaner backhand (I think) to seal the hat trick on game six. Then the next season the chippiness of the regular season, by the 2nd series I fucking hated that team.



Really though I think it is all of it. The hair pulling, the whining, just all of it.

Let's not forget to mention, The GM calling a press confrence and basically crying on National TV about the unfair play. That to me says Nucks organization has no back bone and come to a complete melt down at any moment and is will to do anything to swing the momentum around by looking assnine.
