Being selfish about sleep because our six month old kicks me out of bed from3a.m. On...

Shit is wack. Taking turns 'sleeping in' but I don't get my turn for the last threeweeks. Should I just let the wife take my turns to avoid the arguments about who gets less sleep and just weather the storm? Anybody wanna share some wisdom?

Same thing happened with all three of my kids. I was already used to not sleeping from being in the military, so it was easier for me to not sleep. Best bet is just to weather the storm. It will save your sanity.

My solution may be a bit late to the party... Just don't have kids. If you appreciate an adequate amount of sleep each night, the worst thing you can do is have a kid. Terrible idea.

Time to get started on the next one. You're not sleeping so you might as well have fun. Nothing like having kids 15 mo apart.

Sorry, I'm not going to abandon or murder my children. This isn't 4chan.

Ok kid...heres what ya do...

1...If your wife works youre basically fucked cause she needs her sleep like you do..You will just have to cajole a few sleep ins out of her

2...If your wife is a stay at home mom, you win!...Just tell her that the other day at work you were nodding off from lack of sleep, and the boss caught you..You explained the situation and he let it go with a warning but told you, next time you would face ( make up some disciplinary action to tell her)

She will feel guilty and let you sleep in

Thanks, she's stay at home but I only see my boss once a month. I'm fucked.

As a stay at home dad, if you're working and her job is the house and kid, she needs to step up. If I had pulled that with my wife she would have chewed my ass and I would have realized it was true. I hate getting up as much as anyone, but always did my best to sacrifice my sleep when my wife was going to work. If that meant naps during the day when the baby is sleeping then so be it.

Good point..

HHM..maybe try and suggest that your wife can nap anything she wants all day long without pissing her off...I know its a delicate situation with these women..Maybe some flowers and suggest it over dinner some night??

Still, you need to be awake to do your job. I figured when I read the op that you both worked. If either parent is stay at home, they should be the ones up at night. I'd say the same thing if the mom was the bread winner. The working parent needs the sleep.

It's about practical more than principal.

Screw it, bought myself a cot, framing out a room in the basement. Should only have a month or so more of this to deal with. Id rather have my wife get her beauty sleep than submit myself to her logic in a sleep deprived state.

I suggest taking this opportunity to be nostalgic about years past....have doritos, porno mags, a bong all down by your Cot and really live it up.

Yeah, she's going to be pissed enough that there won't be any sweet sexytime, I don't think the Doritos will fly.

Well, the best advice is you have to pick your battles. And this is a pretty big one. So if you choose to make a stand on this, you don't get to object to other shit for probably a long time.
