You really think Cutler has been playing at a top level? Top of what? Cutler has been decent but by no stretch is he playing at a top level.
Getting an ultra-talented QB for the future is by no means a waste. Cutler is going to be 34 next year and after a decade of mediocrity you don't think the Bears should look towards the future? Good teams have succession plans in place and that is what Hackenberg in the second would be.
Yes sir. Not to mention I do believe the only reason Cutler is even trying to do whats asked of him out there is because the leash is gone & his supporters or former supporters finally get that he isn't gods gift to the QB position. If it weren't for that this guy would still be trying to hold the ball too long only to keep trying to throw into bait & brackets deep down the sidelines to a pre determined target. Even with the current improvement, which is still incremental at best & to little too late, anyone dumb enough to hitch their wagon to Cutler after this year really ought to just save themselves a couple of miserable years with no light at the end of the tunnel & quit now, because sooner or later they will get fired with a splattered egg on their face due to trying to build around & mold this guy.
Sheesh they're a 2 win team right now who barely beat a 1 win KC team & the only reason they won that game was because KC lost their best player at HB who was carving up the Bears defense. This not the first time that Cutler has convinced people he is changing for the better only to resort to who he really is as a player. Once he gets comfortable again, he'll go back to his bad habits. He always has & always does. What people are seeing from Cutler now is the best they're ever going to, & that isn't even close enough to be good enough to win with.
Definitely draft that QB first & or second, & go ape shit on getting LB's & CB's. D & O-lineman wouldn't hurt either. Id be fine with it if the Bears thoroughly addressed the QB position by actually draft 2 QB's in this draft. I really like the QB's in this draft. I laugh when I hear people try to call this a thin QB draft, I think it looks very good at the QB position.
In a nutshell the problem with keeping Cutler is that by the time the Bears have a team around him good enough to have any kind of success with, he himself will be too old & the Bears will also be behind the 8 ball on developing a better younger QB when Cutler is gone down the road.
