I just saw a commercial for this on TV and was wondering WTF this is.

From what ive sleuthed, theres no nicotine in it and it is simply water vapor.

so.... WTF IS THE POINT? Most people smoke for the first time for the initial buzz, and "its cool" with friends when your a kid. Then you continue because your addicted.

Why on earth would you smoke water vapor for the hell of it? I would be amazed if this product is still available this time next year.

You gotta watch the cheezy ass commercial on there.

from their website:

Who ever thought that smoking would not only be safer but more importantly "cooler." Let’s face it, your "cool" style is the driving force in what you chose to wear this morning. It’s in your shirt. It’s in your shoes. It’s in your jacket. It’s in what you drive. It’s even in where you choose to eat dinner, in what drink you order. Your style is important.

I have seen commercials for the EZ Smoker and Electronic Cigarette which I'm sure are the same thing. One of them even gives off the glow at the end.

Considering I'm past the 7 month marker of being Tobacco free, these kind of devices I know Bri mentioned were for "helping you quit smoking". I know some come with nicotine cartridges that you can slowly reduce the intake of.

Now, I'm not a firm believer on alternative medicine, and I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but I did laser acupuncture for my smoking habit, and it worked wonders. For those of you who have had the unnecessary pleasure of meeting me, know I was a chain smoker. The treatment actually helped take away all physical withdrawal and it was up to me for the mental. You had to follow some guidelines (No caffeine, red meat for 5 days. Also had to drink 8 bottles of water a day). After the Nicotine had left my system it was all about breaking the habit and I used sun flower seeds and gum for when I was driving. Slowly i noticed I did have the urge to smoke anymore when driving or when around people who smoke.

The reason for that above is I guess everyone has a certain way to quit. I know people who've done the patch, gum and this new electric cigarette, but honestly, I feel that cold turkey is the best way to go.

Very interesting. I didn't even realize laser acupuncture could be used for such a purpose.

My husband did a course of Chantix before all the weird stuff about it came out. His doctor prescribed four months' worth but all it took was about five weeks and he lost all urge to smoke. That was four years ago and he hasn't smoked since. When he was on the Chantix he had really bizarre dreams, even stranger than tequila dreams. We didn't learn until later that it was caused by the Chantix!

As for the electronic "cigarettes," I hear a lot of ads for them on the radio and I've always found the hurried-up and very lengthy disclaimers at the end pretty funny.

The thing that gets me about this is, its not marketed as a "quit smoking" tool. It says it is just to be cool, I was under the impression adults were well beyond the point of smoking "to be cool".

This thing is literally just sucking on water vapor to be cool, that sums it up in a nutshell.

I like how it says "you can smoke in the bar", then on the bottom of the page it says "smoking in a bar subject to local law".

Good info here that many could use, self included.

As for the "buy this fake cig to look deal" deal, it's the same as the people that dye their hear red or wear really goofy clothes.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just wear a cardboard sign that says:

"HEY LOOK AT ME! I'M DIFFERENT AND NEED ATTENTION"

I honestly started smoking because all the bartenders and other servers I worked with smoked. Figured I wanted to fit in, which most people will do. I enjoyed the buzz and then got hook and ventured down that bad path.

What don't you just spend the money on something useful? Like a down payment for a new car?

I know people who have used it and claim it worked, I also know others who would rather lick an electrical socket then pop another one of those pills.

The dreams I hear are intense, but to be honest, when I was quitting I had some odd dreams here and there as well.

It really isn't. But nobody knew much of anything about the side effects back then, or at least it wasn't heavily publicized. It worked really great for my husband but if we had known everything that's out there about it now, hubby probably wouldn't have wanted to try it.

As a pharmacist I've heard numerous first hand accounts of how well Chantix worked. People who smoke for 40 years were able to quit.

However, the intense dreams are hard to handle for a lot of people. Also, mixing it with alcohol is dangerous. It can cause hallucinations. There was even a homocide blamed on Chantix a few years ago. I guy was drunk and was on Chantix and was stumbling around hallucinating and talking to himself and he stumbled into the wrong persons yard. An old man took him for an intruder and shot him.

Intense dreams are a nice way of what my dad called them.

People get these as well from sleeping with the patch on.
