Maybe Cornish Hens taste differently than normal Chickens, I think that's what Urblock was talking about.

Cornish hens are all picking and no meal.. nothing worse than picking a good pile and biting into some shot.
If I am gonna eat something that small, give me turtle dove all day...make a good gravy with it and its slap yer mama good

You see that picture in my avatar? thats a cornish cross chicken. picture took last week at 9 weeks. Wife says thet are about 3 lbs. They are not the fast growing cornish cross, mine are the slow growing cornish cross. A lot of meat there

How old is too old for tenderness in the chicken world?
Like can you wait until they don't lay eggs anymore, hens obviously in that scenario, but just curious in general.

My buddy said ok to his wife to have a few chickens and they have 7 acres. Biggest turkeys I've ever seen and many of them. Around 40 geese, 50 chickens, ducks and things that I've never seen before.

When hens dont lay eggs anymore thats what the stores call stewing hens. Chewy , tough.
Roosters if they are castrated ( capon) you can eat them at a longer age life.
Non -castrated roosters you dont want to let get too old, i think we ate ours yesterday they where 16-18 weeks.

No i dont deal with them, wife takes care of them actually. I couldn't even watch as she cut their little heads off. She's the tough one in the family. You buy chicken from the store? My meat birds live a good life for 12 weeks
