anyone else remember when the Bears were like #32 in the power rankings? that basically signals the NFL the following: "**** them aggressively"

either that or my theory about the Bears paying the refs off maybe is real. who knows. who gives a ****, honestly?

Win or lose those games ultimately means nothing this season. This team is heading nowhere. So why try to sneak in, get demolished and pick in the mid first round? In April we will be thankful for the bullshit refs when we land an elite tackle, pass rusher or receiver prospect. Sucks to lose, I know the players hate it but they will move on.
Do you think that making the refs more accountable only applies to this year?

What is with all the likes on this post that completely missed the point. A lot of group think in here.

For starters more eye in the sky to call down from booth proactively, ability to have a coach review X times per game, maybe 5 and if first 2 are wrong you lose one. Refs to be graded and published and demoted or fined/fired. Others may have more/better ideas to fix. Thanks,

Hey man, I have been up most of the night with 11 of the leagues teams. Reception for a petition is luke warm at best. I did speak with several Eagles fans last night and they are pissed! They feel the refs blew the entire game. I'll continue this fight for you though in the upcoming days.

If there's one thing I don't rely on, it's consistent officiating in the NFL or sports in general. Week to week you deal with bullshit, Bears have been on the short end of the stick lately. It happens, but the Eagles got hosed last night with an obvious facemask that turned the game around. Refs will never truly be held accountable.

Play better, and the refs will matter less.

Nothing will change because the formula they have works.
refs are assigned by region and game importance. No rookie refs will be assigned to prime time games. The quality of refs represents the leagues opinion of the team, and they don’t think much of the Bears right now.
Refs have training games too….
want better refs? Win more games…

Fair point.

I also believe that there may be a natural built-in human bias...If a ref sees something he or she thinks is questionable, he or she is perhaps more likely to pull out the flag on a team perceived as bad (re: stupid) than on a team that is elite and less prone to making stupid penalties.

The fix remains the same: Play better, and quit blaming the refs.

Have you changed your name to 'Karen' or this really won't work, I promise you. Only a 'Karen' gets away with these types of changes. So please, until you've successfully changed your name to 'Karen', don't try until then.
No my name is not Karen and you're not funny - jackass!

You think we can get a player on the level of Will Anderson or Jalen Carter outside the top 5? You think we could get a trade down package as good as we could get from a team wanting B.Young, CJ Stroud or W.Levis outside the top 5?

Big difference picking in the top 5 or outside of it.
Actually I do think that. Have watched every Bama game and Anderson rarely shows up big time, same with last years star edge rusher Thibeaux from Oregon in his first year. I saw last night Hurts was the 5th QB taken in his draft. lot's of examples.

How has that been working?

Bears have actually tried having a QB for some time now and the last 3 have owned team records, we obviously have gotten better. Are the calls getting better or worse?
When a team like the Packers who usually get the calls against the rest of the NFCN goes to another more liked NFL darling team do you think they suddenly play worse?

And most of all, do you really think fans blaming the refs has ANYTHING to do with it?

If the focus is on how the refs might call the game, it is misplaced, and failure is assured.

The Bears need to play better. Period. The rest is whining.

That is a non sequitur. Not only to the thoughts and question above but within itself.

How fans focus has nothing to do with success or failure. Unless fans have a Nielson rating box in their house, complaining about it is all the fans have.
The Bears are playing much better, period. They're still getting bad calls, in fact I would say the officiating gets more blatant the better the Bears get.

Think of Mack. How much better are we expected to get at that position than the best? Getting him was completely negated by the refs. Why wasn't he constantly held on the Raiders? Why was he constantly held here? Is he still allowed to be held now?
He was doing everything he should've to draw those calls and the flags still weren't flying.
You can't possibly get good enough to beat the refs that are willing to be as blatant as they are.

it's a low bar, dude. until Fields finds a way to throw for 300 yards a game consistently I think the league and fans of other teams are going to continue to perceive the Bears as being one of the worst teams in the league. the records and scoring metrics aside, they're still not being taken seriously. they've been a solid second half team but I think it's multiple games now where the defense slipped in the 4th quarter. I'm sure trading the better defensive players for picks is the reason for this, but while it may suck in the short term, the team will be better off later.

I'll continue to watch games. whether they win or lose has no bearing on my day, week, month, or year. just try to enjoy yourselves. the flashes being exhibited by a team that was slated to be the worst in the league are actually fun to watch.
