I've been in small city Midwest for 14 years (too long) and I'm long overdue for a fresh start in a new place. It's possible there will be opportunities to transfer there with my employer, but even if not, I'm going. I have some friends there, and I've been considering this for several years now. This is the year.

So any of you idiots know anything about the area?

Pacific NW generally speaking is freaking beautiful...but never been to Portland. I can say this with confidence though.... >>>>>>>>> Springfield.

I don't, not at all. I can also use the Bears as an outlet for my contrarianism since I'll be in the minority there.

Thank god, one less fatass in the mid-west. Let us know when you make the move so we can organize a state-wide kegger.

I think of Portland Oregon and all I can come up with is it's where Ken Patera is from, the Olympic strongman of WWWF (yeah back when they had 3 "W"s) fame.

I'd like to move somewhere where it's warm year round. There's just chains that bind me here though.

Aye, the thought of no more Illinois winters is pretty rad. Last year's was the worst ever; the perfect sendoff.

Portland is kinda weird. Its sorta in the middle of nowhere. But there is lotsa outdoors shit to do withing like a 2 hour drive. It fuckin rains a lot there so be prepared for that.

The oregon coast has one of the best bike tour routes in the whole country. Its fuckin awesome. And you should start planning a trip to the olympic peninsula as soon as you get there.
