What really put me over the edge about the PNW was how weak and short the summers are. I can handle crappy weather if there is a payoff. But when it averages around 70 in the summer, im out. Not even warm enough to go to the beach.

That's awesome Mick, good luck. I don't know shit about the PNW/Portland other than it looks fucking awesome. I think the NW is the only other place in the country I'd live if I left Denver

Haha, no. I'd like to hear your input.

But you haven't asked any questions...idiot.

All kidding aside, my cousin has resided just outside of Portland for over 2 decades...just so happens she's coming into town this week.

Ask anything, and she'll know the answer. Her husband grew up there, teaches at a local college.

As for the drug culture in Portland, it is just more visible. DuPage county(Chicago suburbs)had 46 heroin related deaths last year...cops now carry anti-narcotic drugs.

Yeah I'm really not worried about the heroin. I grew up in Trainspotting city; I know how to not get into heroin.

I'd move to the PNW in a heartbeat if it weren't for all the rain. That shit would drive me crazy. Literally.

Prefer something warmer myself. Some place that doesn't go below 60 in the winter and I don't care how hot it gets in the summer cause I like the water, be it the ocean or even just a pool.

I have about 10 friends who moved out there after high school, or who moved to austin and then there. 9 of them love it. One of them left after a year because of the rain and he found the locals kind of annoying.

2 of my friends out there go to the coast a lot and surf and say it's great if you're into that.

holy shit you are an old **** aren't you. how do people on the verge of 40 not just realize their worthlessness and die? I guess because you are a hipster beardo (do you still have a beard?) you think that you can disguise the fact that you are never going to be cool and young again and can try to play a "sage" in your younger friends' lives?

I shaved. Are you saying all that because last time we hung out at gilt bar I was wearing a wizard robe and carrying a gnarled staff?

I'm pretty sure you are being sarcastic...but my late 30's have been WAY better than my early to mid 20's. I don't think that's all that uncommon either.

Edit> FU. We're the same age. Lol.

Wait until you guys get beyond 40. I'll keep quiet to not ruin the surprise, but life gets more difficult and more enjoyable at the same time.

Think Mick will love it in the PNW.

I thought you were some sort of shaman. I followed your life plan and now I am so fucked. I'm going to go back to listening to da Boss and riding my cafe racer around trying to pick up chicks that can relate to my homespun downhome homeyness.

My friend went to school in Oregon (University of Oregon), but could only stay there for a year due to the weather. He just couldn't take all the rain and cloudy days. He said that he rarely saw the sun, but he's from southern California, where there's sun 350 days of the year. But it sounds like that won't bother you.
I would lose my shit if I lived where it rained and cloudy pretty much every day. Nothanks. Although I would move to SoCal in a friggin heartbeat. mmmm Cali girls. Laguna Beach. Hollister Beach. hnggggg

Good luck with that Mick. You're not married them I take it? I heard mixed about Portland. Some loved it. Some hated it. Weird indie scene and a lot of try hards, so if ya can get past that I'm sure it'll be cool. Personally, I'd rather move down to Nashville or Austin. I may be moving to Nashville next spring, but I'd love to go to Austin; but those damn hipsters ruined it :(

Either way, prepare yourself.
