I don't think it's a rare thing. I guess I just don't see the point? If I'm already talking to people online in one spot, why go to another? I'll just be talking with the same people online in two different places.
I've only been on three forums ever. The first one ironically enough ended in large part because of an outside chatroom. MSN Chat to be exact. Everyone there started talking on MSN chat and the forum went from being pretty damn active to pretty dead within 2 months... then it was completely dead 3 months later.
The other one was also extremely active. About as active as the CCS Bears forum. Then they discovered Chatzy. I hardly ever went on there. Mostly just to recruit members to come here. I went on after being off for 6 months, and it wasn't nearly as active as it once was. I asked what happened, and I was told that a lot of members mostly talk on Chatzy now.
It seems like these chatrooms are forum killers haha.
