I'd rather just try & keep Peppers & fix the real problems at DT. Get Linval Joseph, Donald in the first, & Kareem Martin in the second & things may not be so bad.

That potent offense shit the bed in an unparalleled way on the biggest of stages. Nobody, not even the Seahawks fans, saw that coming. It wasn't a matter of offense not being the key to winning a superbowl, it was a matter of 11 guys being ill-prepared and collectively putting together one of the biggest choke jobs in NFL history for 60 minutes.

If anything, we should take note of the 7.125 million per year. That bodes well for signing a FA.
What if we get no FA linemen? Well....then we keep Peppers. And we draft linemen.
Panic when McCown leaves? Why? Journeyman everywhere he's been, and looked great in Trestman's system. I love what he did for us but he will get a chance to start, and is gone. And whomever we sign as backup, in what limited time they will play in 2014, won't be a big drop off.
Panic because we are tying to trade Peppers? Hardly. IF we sign a FA DE, Peppers is a likely cut. If we don't, it's unlikely we trade him. As Emery says "decisions get made when they need to be made."
If we lose a FA - Johnson, for example - I won't feel any better or worse if they sign with Lovie. Lovie means nothing to us now. Only if within the NFC north should we care.
