Not to beat a dead horse...but I was thinking...we're pretty much tanking the next two years anyway, correct? struggling through next year, hoping for the best in the next season, then amnesty Booze and go after a big FA Class?

Well, why not offer Noah, Booze, Deng, Rip (expiring) and 2 1sts for Dwight? So what if we only have him one year -- we then get to offer him the biggest FA deal, possibly enticing him to stay, and even if he goes, we've still got Rose and then can re-tool in 2014.

I'm not even sure I'm on board with this idea just yet...But I'm pretty sure w/ Rose, Deng, Noah and Boozy as our best 4 players, we're not winning a championship.

I'd rather wait for Boozer and Deng's contracts to near their expirings and package them for young talent with star potential on rookie contracts (and some high picks).

I wouldn't. That's not at all guaranteed. Highly unlikely you will get young talent worth having for Boozer and Deng on expiring deals.

hold up a sec....do the bulls get something else besides dwight?

i dont think orlando wants these guys because their contract suck at the moment..would be a little more enticing if rip wasn't the only contract expiring

howard doesn't want to go to chicago regardless though, so the only thing i could see is bynum going to chi town in a three way deal....

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  2. Golden State Warriors
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Here's some reasons why

1) The Magic seem to want young prospects and draft picks for Howard right now. We have neither.
2) No one wants Boozer
3) Looking back at reason 1, we'd probably need to get a 3rd team involved to give Orlando what they want (which is why Cleveland keeps popping up as the 3rd team), but I doubt Cleveland wants to help us get Dwight...or anyone else for that matter because Deng and Noah aren't good enough for them.

Now would I do such a trade? Yes, in a heart beat, but no chance it happens. None whatsoever.

Nah, it wouldn't just be Howard...Hedo would have to be included...and another questionable contract like Davis or something.

And, Howard doesn't have a NTC, does he? He can't really dictate where he goes -- or Rockets rumors wouldn't be coming up.

He can't have a NTC otherwise every deal would just be rejected anyway.

technically true, but think about how much influence howard has had in this whole fiasco...

if howard really doesn't have any interest in a place, orlando isn't going to make him go

i don't think howard has said he has no interest in the rockets, plus the rockets have a ton of attractive assets orlando likes, the bulls really don't

Wait until the summer when Deng is a FA and Boozer has 1 year left on his deal.

Then, have Deng agree to a sign-and-trade.

The Bulls could definitely get back young talent and/or high picks for that package.

or...the teams that wanted him could offer him $1M more than the bulls, and not have to give up anything for him in terms of players/picks. And no one wants Boozer now...his $18M "expiring contract" isn't going to persuade teams to give up actual talent for him.

Boozer's expiring could sweeten the pot for Luol Deng. Plenty of teams will be willing to give up first round picks for Deng. Especially with a decent player like Boozer at the end of his deal.

You couldn't see Toronto offering the Bulls a DeRozan-type-of-player and fillers combined with a couple of picks for Deng and Boozer? I certainly could.

Or what about Eric Gordon? There are plenty of good players that are bound to demand trades in the coming seasons.

The closer to the end of Boozer's deal- the more expendable he becomes.

There are 29 teams out there. And it is not like the Bulls have been trying to trade Deng and Noah actively yet.

Questionable.

Though if Sacramento was really willing to do Deng + our 1st for Tyreke + their 1st, perhaps it's not out of the question. Issue is, Deng's new contract is going to still be in the 9-12M range probably and Boozer's is at least 15M. That's up to 27M in salary that a team is going to have to absorb/match. Quite a lot, even if a star is involved. Honestly, I can't see the Bulls being able to pull off that kind of move. The only good trade they've made in recent memory was getting John Salmons and Brad Miller for Nocioni and whoever else.

The more realistic move is them just letting Deng walk and amnestying Boozer that year and then striking out in free agency yet again and ending up with Boozer 2.0.

Give Orlando Kirk Hinrich, Vladimir Radmanovic and Darko Milicic for Howard.
And throw Boozer in as a bonus. :troll:

What I mean is that the Bulls will be more likely to be able to expend him and get something back in-return.
That's probably true. Having 15M coming off the books is nice for any team looking to clear cap space. What team is going to be looking to make a dump like that though?

There are 29 other teams in the league. There are plenty of reasons to try to clear cap-space. The Bulls just need to be patient and wait for the right opportunity.
