Not necessarily.

Let me guess, Big Oil conspiracy ?

It's being tested on a bike path in the Netherlands, which Tjodalv mentions. However, if it was ready for full time production on highways right now at a cheaper cost someone would be doing it on a much grander scale. Just think of the durability of the surface alone, doesn't even pass the sniff test.

You guessed wrong. I was thinking more if it doesn't bring in a consistent cash flow, a company will not do it. Just because something may be good for the earth and community at large, doesn't mean a company will do it. And the government is basically inconsequential anymore, they only do shit for corporations anymore.

Right, it won't bring in a consistent cash flow because the solar roadway claims have been debunked on nearly every level. It's a very cool idea that many people have thought about, but the science and tech isn't there yet, it's just not. Even solar panels on homes aren't efficient and cost effective to implement on a wide scale yet. I am into technology bigtime, and the concept of these solar roadways is very cool, but it has to work in reality. Doesn't mean we should stop trying and being creative though, but don't make false claims. These two have made some money from their false claims and youtube videos.

Debunked... AND, proven to be an environmental burden. Solar roadways, walkways, are all BAD for mother earth. They do not help or make things better. They aren't long-term infrastructure investments that might work out one day. They are flat out less environmentally beneficial.

I wasn't speaking about solar roadways in that post, I was speaking in general.

When I first heard about this a year or two ago the tempered glass on hi-tech circuitry made me lol. Really? You think you are going to get good traction and durability on glass ? Not to mention cracks in the glass with water running into the circuitry. LOL !!!

Not to mention, oil, sand, rock, dirt, and other grit on a glass road surface that relies on clarity to produce energy. Come on man !

Yeah, when something sounds to good to be true it usually is. That certainly doesn't stop our Government or environmentalists though.

You can believe, if it actually held up to the claims in the original video, a Company would have already been laying down roads.

Yeah, its not like renewable energy has to compete with subsidized oil or anything.

Ok. I was just talking about solar roadways. Anyway, this is a cool concept. However, it kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth when these guys are making bullshit claims and taking donations based on them. Kind of dirty IMO, or naive.

Dude, chill. I am all for renewable energy and we all want it, but it still has to be reliable, efficient, and cost effective. The claims made by this couple are complete horseshit and lies. I don't support that, I'm sorry. I'm not hating on renewable energy by any means, I WANT THAT.
