Not to fight, but Bourdain's quote speaks of the ambiance per se instead of the food. In fact he starts off by saying better food might be had elsewhere and then addresses ambiance for the remaining quote.

He is saying the food is unique compared to any other place in America. Im sure there are restaurants all across America that has great food, but as a whole, I will take New Orleans.

Most people consider New York, New Orleans, and San Francisco the top 3. Travel and Leisure named New Orleans 1.

New Orleans is actually going through what people like to call a "Food Renaissance". New Orleans has blown up so huge with tourism and Hollywood movies that we now have more restaurants then we did before Katrina and its a lot of younger people opening it. They are buying old gyms and places like that and turning them into new age restaurants. Its pretty cool. Also, our food trucks are freaking fantastic. Only problem id you never know where they are going to be. The city doesnt allow them to stay in one spot. But, these food trucks arent you run of the mill food trucks. They are pumping out some incredible food.

I just want to make things clear. I'm not bashing New Orleans food. In fact, I said it's good. I'm responding to the SilenceS response in multiple threads about how anything not NOLA is automatically bad or inferior/fad, and other opinions aren't valid, bias.

Where have I said that? I said Pho was a fad. Thats it. It seems you have a bias to my opinion.

I love New Orleans, and love food. Narrow minds annoy me though...
