In my perfect world, I'd trade Anderson and someone else for a contract signed by Shark. Then I go to the Yankees and Dodgers and get serious
with Alexi talks. My targets from the Dodgers would be Kemp or Ryu. With the Yanks my targets would be Gardner, Betances, and McCann.

With two trades the Sox next year could be a line-up of:
OPTION A
2b Micah Jonnson
CF Eaton
IB Abreau
DH LaRoach
RF Garcia
C McCann
LF Gardner
3B Viciedo/Jeff K.
SS Semien or ?

OPTION B

CF Eaton
RF Garcia
LF Kemp
1B Abreau
DH LaRoach
C McCann
3B Viciedo/Jeff K.
SS Semien or ?
2B Micah Johnson

Then either Ryu or Shark slide into the pitching rotation as the number two starter.

Why is that Brett? McCann is a legit power hitting catcher and is in his prime. Gardner is a good outfielder with some speed and pop. He's not a star but certainly would have value as a left handed bat. Trading danks would also free up some money.

1) He's well below average at catcher defensively. Last year's cs% would be because of the pitchers hold and not necessarily his arm based on career numbers.
2) He was about even to Tyler Flowers offensively and it could be argued that Yankee stadium is an even better park than the Cell to hit in
3) He's owed like a minimum of 68 and possibly 83 million dollars but does not play at the elite level a catcher earning that much should
4) Brett Gardner is getting paid more than Adam Dunn for less production that Adam Dunn.
5) Brett is on the downside of his career though I admit he may have one or two good years like his outlier year of 2014 before I expect quite a drop

I liked the idea of McCann when he was a free agent. His dollars got way too high IMO. And now with a year of him playing I am glad the Sox did not get him.

You call the Yankees, You have to have Gary Sanchez.

I like the Snydergard rookie pitcher from the Mets or Plawiki, one of the best catchers among the rookie class of prospects.

Max Scherzer.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Sox only have a $70MM roster commitment for 2015.

They have ample roster space to accommodate another Cy Young caliber pitcher, and at 30 years old, he's worth the money.

Add Melky Cabrera in LF, then trade Ramirez and Tank for bullpen pieces and we're the class of the AL with the best rotation in baseball.

When the dust clears, the Sox end up with a championship caliber roster for close to $120MM, which is where they should be anyway. Tell me why this doesn't work.

im not saying it cant happen but the big spending teams are going to overpay and outbid, just look at the lester shit. we dont need a scherzer even though he is amazing we can still get quality at number 2 like greinke.

i still say ya move danks even though his contract isnt as bad as the market. he will eat innings.

Danks doesn't have any trade value, so I doubt he's going anywhere.

It's probably going to take 7yrs/$175MM to get Scherzer. That's a lot of dough, but he's the top FA available, and the coastal teams (Yankees/Dodgers/Angels) are bloated with bad longterm contracts as it is. The Sox and Cubs are probably the only teams left who can afford to sign Scherzer without undermining their roster or losing a 1st round draft pick. Acquiring marginal talent like BMac or Masterson may be more practical, but it won't justify shedding all that salary in the past few years, or the highest ticket prices in baseball. Imo, it would only serve to erode the fanbase even further if they fail to add a few more impact players on the south side. The best years of Sale and Abreu will have been wasted.

If Max would take an offer from us for 7/175...Done deal. I'd see if we can mid load it, something like 15-15-35-35-25-25- 25. This let's us get out of the Danks contract.

I'd even do 25-35-35-35-15-15-15

so no one is going to trade for Danks and that bloated contract..my idea move him to long relief..guy is good for 3-4 innings max and bullpen would suit him better. Sign Sherzer and have rotation of Sale, Sherzer, Quintanna, Rodon and have bullpen of of Danks and Duke.

Be ready to shell out $100 M +

Samadzija is definitely the next man out, Oakland is blowing the thing up

Dobne and done. 5 years $100 million plus this coming season for what like $10? Done and done.
