I'm gonna laugh if you paid over $50 M for a RP
Regardless he is a great player, it's just a closer can only do so much to improve the team. Has a large RP contract ever worked out? Surprised the Sox would do this, but I'll wait for the details to really decide.
Reports are it is a 4 year deal
Meh still over $10 mil AAV for a RP is asking for bad things to happen
Looks like it is a 4/$40M deal. Not a bad signing, but seems awfully rough to give up that much for a RP
id also for the money take him over miller. also 2 hours ago he was close to going back to the yanks.

Would be huge for the Sox to get Samardzija.Would be a great move and make the on paper division leaders IMO. But not a fan of this move at all. Robertson is a good pitcher, but seems absurd to devote that much to a guy in the pen
Outstanding signing.
whoa. Are you ok? YOu said something nice about the White Sox. Did Hell freeze over?
Horrible contract. Closers and relief pitching is too volatile to offer up this kind of money for a guy who's been a closer for one season. It fills a need, but at what cost? The saving grace is that he's just now turning 30 and a huge drop off in performance shouldn't be expected until the second half of the deal. You just hope that the Sox can contend this year so the large salary figure can be somewhat justified.
A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week.

Christmas comes early. Screw the "horrible" contract theory...for me, it's irrelevant (and untrue). The idea is to win. It may pay off, it may not, but the opportunity is there.
