I've only caught a few episodes and I've enjoyed it... I just think it would work better on cable. In Adult Swim or on Comedy Central...
I just didn't find the episode funny at all. Just not my kind of humor. Hell the last 3 episodes of Family Guy have been horrid too. Simpsons was actually funny last night
caught up with the first 2 seasons thus far of the british version of "Being Human" up to the season 3 premiere.
I wish I didn't, because now I will probably be over critical of the American version. British version was a little rougher to get into, but I really started to enjoy it alot and liked the characters.
There are some differences in the lore too between the shows, despite the American version appearing to follow the story of the british version pretty closely.
Aiden the American version of Mitchell from the british show. Is older (alive since at least the late 1700's), seems to have less of a "dark side" or at least isnt as open to giving into it as his british counterpart. Vampires in the british version seem to be able to quit drinking blood cold turkey, with no ill effects other than craving and can eat regular food and get enjoyment out of it. In the American version Vampires dont eat human food at all, and even Aiden survives on "hospital blood". Also in the british version vampires dont cast reflections, in the american version they do.
Josh the American version of George from the British show, is still kind of a whiny ***** like George, but is less of a dork. Although as the British series moved on George became a little more badass. As far as werewolves go in the American version werewolves appear to get superhuman abilities even in their human form the closer it is to a full moon in a given month, in both they have a superhuman sense of smell all the time(in one episode of the american version, the night before a full moon, josh and another werewolf go out and kick the shit out of a bunch of vampires). Other than that they are pretty similar we havent learned enough about them in the American version to catch any other differences. In the british version werewolves are pretty vulnerable, they can die of old age, they dont appear to heal quickly or anything, and nothing special is required to kill one.
Sally the American version of Annie the ghost in the British version, seem very similar personality-wise, but as far as the nature of their being even from the series outset seem very different. Annie from the first episode is able to manipulate the world around her with ease and leave her house, Sally is merely just learning to do such things.
I like both shows quite a bit. Thus far the American version has done a good job damn near following the British storyline to a tee while the details of the story being different. I am looking forward to seeing if that trend continues or if they will completely branch off into an independent storyline.
I got to be honest I didn't even make it through the 1st episode of Being Human. i got to the part where the two Vampires got into that little scrum and the one guy said he wasn't back really and the other guy said he was or whatever. I just felt like it was a True Blood rip off (or True Blood ripped it off and did it better) and just was like yeah seen this before, pass.....
It might be a great show but that just killed it for me.
