and by that, I am implying that you don't love the person, or aren't at all attracted to them and so fourth. There has to be some reason you otherwise would not marry them if they didnt have money.

Honestly, no. I'd rather be happy than rich.

No, not a golddigger. And I couldn't force myself to sleep or have sex with someone I didn't care about no matter how tempting of a lifestyle they could offer me. I'm pretty low maintenance so it doesn't take a lot to make me happy.

I wouldn't do it either. I actually want a girl who is nice to me and makes me happy. Looks aren't as important to me as personality. A lot of people might not believe me but that's how I feel.

My first reaction was HELL YEAH!!!!!

I couldn't possibly have that be the only factor, in fact I wouldn't want that as a factor at all. If their income is one of the reasons I am with them, then that is not a healthy situation.

For some people that is their only priority, but you have to put some of the blame on the people that let that happen too.

Would anybody do the foreign mail order bride thing? It's kind of the opposite or other side of the marrying for money thing. Some of my friends and few family members accused me of that when I got married and told me I was making a huge a mistake, even though I spent 2 months with my future wife before popping the question. It's nice to politely rub it in their face now, particularly when they've been divorced since we got married in a few cases.

Been there done that. Even though the wife and I started out just corresponding and neither were looking for a relationship when we first met, when we did notice something could be there, we did take a lot of flak about "mail order bride" in a derisive sense. Years later a lot of the same people told us that they wish they had as strong of a relationship.

As far as I'm concered online, mail-order, or IRL dating is just dating. The only difference is the horizons it spans and the dating pool. The chance of misinformation is equal in all scenarios. While it may be easier to falsify information online and through mail-order, trying the local scene really limits the pool of talent to draw from; and it seems to me that no matter where you are, the local pool is pretty shallow.

Conversley, though, making a long distance relationship is really tough! It's not something that can be entered lightly. Unless you're serious to see it through to the next level and have that goal in mind and are willing to do what it takes to make it there (and so is your s/o), it's not going to work.

People who say money can't buy happiness, are just really bad with money.

I guess I really am naive. I never realized how much people really do admire and respect shallowness.

Well I know I like to think of myself as not shallow. There a lot of people out there that seem to think shallowness is a way of life. Look at the Jersey Shore. I guess shallow is cool, and of course as always I'm not cool.

I am not sure I understand what you mean with this....I dont think people are being shallow, i think they are being realists. Not everyone has fallen for the myth that marriage is all about the fairytale romance where you are so deeply in love with each other, it will conquer all. thats fine and dandy until you get that first months round of bills, power, cable, water, rent, car notes, insurance....buying groceries....what the **** do you mena you and the girls are going to the mall? Uh, yes i am going to lou's for a few drinks with the boys after work. You wash the dishes, hell half of them are from you dirtying a new cup every time you pour something.

Has nothign to do with my situation. We are discussing the what others said. I dont get where you say they are respecting and supporting shallowness. Where in any of their comments is anyone defending being shallow?
