2/28 Cubs Tuesday notebook

“I don’t care where you’re playing,” Sveum said, “winning is winning and you want to win all the time. At the end of the Cactus League, will the record matter? Of course not. I think the bottom line is to stress to beat the other team every time you step on the field. It’s not always what the final score dictates. Can you go home at night and say you kicked the other team’s butt besides the final score of the game? You can win a lot of games and a guy can hit a walkoff, two-run homer on a great pitch and you lost the game but you really won 8 2/3 innings, too. There’s a difference between winning and losing sometimes and how you get it.”

That was a bit convoluted

The Cubs do have to decide on a backup catcher for Soto this season. Koyie Hill held that job for the last five seasons, but is now in the Cardinals camp.

It's like Henry Blanco never existed.

Well... Campana is on both teams... and I'm definitely rooting for the 2nd team (even though Castro is on the 1st). Jackson, Rizzo, Vitters, Szczur.

I know its to early to ***** about lineups since its just intersquade but why is Dejesus 6th and Soriano and Stewart top of order? Taking the 2 guys who cant get on base and put them 1, 2 while Dejesus with career .350+ OBP 6th? Hopefully just trying to get Sori few more AB against live pitching.

Also agreed i hope team 2 wins. i would love to watch that game today with Rizzo, Vitters, Jackson

It's an intrasquad tune-up game. They just want to get work in, so it doesn't matter what the lineup is.

Wow. Szczur just tagged up and scored from second base on R. Johnson's fly ball to the wall in RF.

Future OF right there. B-Jax and Szczur

Jackson lead off HR, Szvzur singles, ends up at second, and scores from second on an RJ sac fly! Wells puts starters down 1-2-3.

Szczur hits grand slam off T-Wood to give Cubs a 6-0 lead over the Cubs. Cubs looking good. Other Cubs? Not so good.

Go minor league team :)

Baker hit by pitch and Rizzo singled, they chose to skip the rest of the half inning because Travis Wood sucked too much
