Being able to actually watch this game as opposed to rooting for this game, you can see how hard both teams were playing. Each player, each shift, each stride, they were giving their all. What a great game, what a great series.
They gotta change that. Teams can't be punished because their players excel at hockey.
Possibly do something like the NBA, where they can re-sign they're own players even if they go over the cap. BUT, would the owners go for it?

The one thing I forgot last night to recreate the night the Hawks won the Cup was my PLAYOFF BEARD! So happy it didn't have any impact on the replay of the game!

And jako, amen to that!

Agreed, it's nice being able to actually "watch" the game. Everything was so stressful at that time... when they tied it with 3 minutes or so left I felt terrible, how could we get so close.... then KANER!!!!!!!! Insanity.

It was great to watch and enjoy, savor even, this game. The Flyers nearly won early in OT. There was a nice D-man brain fart. Then a few moments later, I see Campbell receive the puck, and I knew what was a bout to happen. There was still anticipation and anxiety as he threw the puck to Kaner, and then Kaner does his little head fake. So angering. What the **** is that gonna do Kaner? He takes the shot from an odd angle. Great. There's a nice stop for the goalie. Piss poor play from the ki.....wait a second, did that go in????

I still teared up.

I teared up when they handed the cup to Sopel (and the others, now gone)

But hey - Buck up! (as my wife says) - life goes on.

Actually watching the game, we could have easily scored 3 or 4 more goals than we did.

I teared up for all those fans that have waited a lifetime for this. I teared up for those fans that were there in '92 and '71. I got misty for the fans that have been with the team through thick and thin. I got misty eyed for the fathers that got to share in this with their sons and daughters.

It was a great win, a great series, and a great year. I am looking forward to many more years of competitive games, great leadership from Toews and others on and off the ice.
that was by far the loudest hockey game I've ever been at.
That joint is loud. The game I was at I was surprised how loud it was. The UC I fear will never be that loud for an entire game.

Well, you teared up for me then (Thanks!), and now that you mention it, I teared up for myself and folks like your dad, (I'm 50, fan since 65-66 season), though I didn't realize it at the time, because I was in shock.

My Dad is turning 61 this year. He remembers the '61 Cup, but it wasn't like it is now. One of his favorite memories(which isn't from the Stosh Cup run that year) was Hull's rush end to end end with a wicked slapper for a goal.

I am trying to find if any STH isn't gonna go to the STH viewing thing, as I would like my pops to see the Cup up close.

The official day is Friday the 17th. Most of the team is here and the rookies in Toronto at the Leafs Rookie Tourney.

Not sure if physicals are Thursday or Friday. Toews, Kane and Keith are in NY at the NHL Media blitz today and I think tomorrow.

That's all I got. I'm guessing practice on Saturday will consist of scrimmages. Rookies will be back for camp and from the sound of it Makarov put on a show today. Yee haw!

FAN960 has its 2010-2011 season preview on in the evening.

They have Wiedeman discussing the Blackhawks chances for a repeat and the Western Conference. Troy was on, too.

Wiedeman wasn't predicting a repeat and hoped fans don't get frustrated.

The odds of repeating are slim IMO. Only two teams in the last two decades have accomplished it.

That said I will be extremely surprised if this team is not scary good. Barring injuries I still don't think there's a team close in depth. At almost every position. This even before our 4th line is assembled.

Four of the five highest goal scorers are back.

Three returning Centers from the top three lines.

Leadership abound.

5 of the 6 defensemen

and a very capable goalie tandem.

It will also benefit them in that they appear to be the under dog by many. Never count a team led by Jonathan Toews will be mediocre.

DROP THE PUCK!
